It looks like Arizona's legislature has passed House Bill 2177, which would require a candidate seeking the highest office in the land to show their "long form birth certificate". The bill isn't too strict though. If a candidate doesn't have the ever elusive LFBC, then a candidate may offer an "early baptismal or circumcision certificate" to the Arizona Secretary of State before being approved for being on the state ballot. Smart move to keep secret Muslims out of the White House!

vetoed the bill!

Yes, that's right. She vetoed the bill! It looks like the birther crazies are too crazy for Jan Brewer of all freaking people.

In a statement on why she vetoed the bill, Governor Brewer said, and I quote:

"I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions."

Really Governor? Brewer went on to say, and I quote:

"In addition, I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president of the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth to submit their 'early baptismal circumcision certificates' among other records to the Arizona secretary of state. This is a bridge too far."

Ouch.

...and after I went through the trouble of providing you a link to the bill itself too.

Quoting from the bill:

"
16-507.01.  Presidential candidates; affidavit of qualifications; enforcement...

B.  The affidavit prescribed in subsection A shall include references to and attachment of all of the following, which shall be sworn to under penalty of perjury:

1.  A certified copy of the presidential candidate's long form birth certificate that includes at least the date and place of birth, the names of the hospital and the attending physician, if applicable, and signatures of any witnesses in attendance.  If the candidate does not possess a long form birth certificate as required by this paragraph, the candidate may attach two or more of the following documents that shall take the place of the long form birth certificate if the candidate swears to their authenticity and validity...

(a)  Early baptismal or circumcision certificate.
(b)  Hospital birth record.
(c)  Postpartum medical record for the mother or child signed by the doctor or midwife or the person who delivered or examined the child after birth.
(d)  Early census record."

oops.

...I care that I have to inhabit a country with a bunch of loonies. Let me repeat that. Loonies. And I'm not talking about Canadian dollar coins.

At one point and time, conservative talk radio used to serve to keep the crazies crazy, and keep them showing up to those "elections" we have every once in a while. Meanwhile, the GOP would just go about their business whoring themselves out to the highest bidder.

Now it doesn't matter who the GOP whore themselves out to. Now the Republicans in Congress just watch Glenn Beck, or Alex Jones, or Michael Savage, or some other loon that should be on a thorazine drip, and write law based on their conspiracy theories.

I can't wait for them to abolish all forms of healthcare because, hey, it's only called the Germ THEORY of Disease. Maybe we all can bring a chicken to our priests for a bi-annual blood letting with leeches.

The GOP has a serious screw loose. Throughout the 90's this country had to deal with these nuts trying their damnest to get a sperm sample from the Democratic Commander in Chief. Now they want a pound of flesh, or rather, a few grams of a foreskin.

Think about this hard Mein. We're in the middle of 3-4 wars, facing near double digit unemployment, a 14 trillion dollar debt, and one side wants to poke at bits of Obama's cock.

This isn't a bait and switch, Mein. It's a bait and twitch.

And I haven't even gotten to the best part. The bill requires that a candidate to provide a LFBC, something Arizona hasn't issued in a very long time. And since Governor Brewer doesn't have wee wee bits, This would mean that this bill would bar Gov. Brewer from getting on the ballot in her own state if she seeks the Presidency. Brilliant. It might even bar Arizona Senator John McCain from getting on his own state's ballot for President since he was born in Panama. Double brilliant.

How in the blue hell do Democrats manage to lose to these dipshits all the time?

both have a tendency to "go off the tracks", meaning they have more in common then they'd like to admit.

One could easily dismiss Mein as a paranoid birther,
until you read following quote from this thread :

"The franchise of voting has been seriously degraded over the past few decades to a series of non-choices as to which bought and already-paid-for puppet the electorate finds to be the lesser of two evils."

Fucking brilliant ! I'm in total agreement ! BHO could be legit. challenged to his POTUS competency on a number of fronts ( particularly on his handling of the economy, which could do him in in 18 months.) But the birther issue ?I'ts a crazy non-starter that delegitimizes BHO
opposition & could deliver Presidency to him by default.

If one has to say what is troubling this country is ( to paraphrase ANOTHER link by Mein )the polarization caused by the left-right continuum which is destroying the U.S. Both sides DON'T cut it anymore with their tired philosophies. A new VERTICAL political paradigm shift is needed.

As for WW, tho he's gone off the tracks several times ( IE, U.S. might get into shooting war Mexico, etc, etc ) he's spot on in this thread.
Regrettably, crazed right wing media is the tail that wags the dog with the GOP. For more info on this insane nonsense, go to link below :

As Stacey pointed out it completely deligitimizing them as well, the difference between Anthony6 and Mein of course is that Mein is actually a rather smart guy, he just "goes off the tracks" sometimes as you like to put it.

BTW I don't agree that Willy ocassionally goes off the tracks, he seems to live there of late.

Mein, I didn't come up with this hairbrain idea of using a circumcision cert to qualify someone to get on the Arizona state ballot. That was the Arizona GOP. It was their idea. They put it in the bill. The Governor vetoed it for that reason. The best part, is the Republicans in Arizona have the votes to overturn the veto!
