McCains report more than $100,000 in credit card debt

This according to an article I read on MSN yesterday.

That is a massive amount of non deductible interest every year.

But it does not surprise me anymore. Among Hollywood celebrities, politicians, athletes, doctors, lawyers, investment bankers, silicon valley entrepreneurs etc six figure cc balances are not uncommon anymore. These people have no grasp of normalcy and the average American anymore.

Cindy McCain is rich, worth somewhere around 100 million. If she is carrying a hundred grand in credit card debt if would represent one tenth of one percent of her worth. Now just how the fuck is that relevant? I also seriously doubt that someone with her assets would be charged 26% interest, I often times carry a balance on AmEx and am usually charged around 10% interest.

Lets face it, both Oabam and McCain are well off financially. They both pay their taxes, they both give to charity, its a non issue.

Geez, if it is a real Amex, not Optima or other Amex vanity card, you can carry  a balance and not pay interest. All one has to do is pay it off when the bill comes.

The case above happens to morons that recite someone else's crap without actual knowledge. They make you look like a moron, more often than not.

For a couple who will have the greatest influence on the country's economy if elected into the White House, if they screw up their own personal finances to this degree, imagine the damage they will to to an entire country's economy.

Hey, if the McCains are so freaking rich that their credit card balances make up less than 0.1%, why don't they just pay it off?  Any smart and wealthy persons would do just that.  Even if they have a zero percent promotional rate, the damage to their credit score would be far greater that they can't inverst their so-called massive wealth (if it does exist).

But there are the pseudo-rich, the ones who temporarily earn millions but go broke because of irresponsible behavior.  The ones who spend recklessly and go into dangerous debt, like credit cards with double digit interest rates, non-tax deductible, and does the most harm to your credit score.

Must be they just aren't as smart as you. Maybe they are unaware that a poor credit score will inhibit their ability to get a mortgage on a nice condo in DC. (Maybe he could ask Barry O'Bama's pal at Countrywide to grease the application.)

Not to mention if they want to finance a Hyundai or borrow money for the kids to go to college.

If he does beat Obama, why not sit down and write a nice letter to McCain and explain the repercussions of a poor credit score. It sounds like you know first hand.

First off, AmEx is a charge card, not a credit card. That's a major difference which if you don't understand, you should not be discussing at all.

Second, as others have pointed out, his wife is worth over $100 mil. The amount cited is the equivalent of you carrying ten dollars worth of debt on your 10k salary.

Third, worry about their credit rating? I can't believe even you are that stupid to suggest this. Somehow with a net worth of over $100 million, they might get turned down by GMAC when they try to get a loan on a Buick? Furthermore, do you even have any comprehension at all as to how credit scores are compiled?

Fourth, who gives a shit? I've got almost $100,000 in debt myself. Its called a mortgage. And I'm only worth close to a million in assets, not $100 million, yet somehow despite this "massive debt" I live quite comfortably, and completely within my means. And by the way, my credit rating last I checked was just fine.

Finally, why aren't you screaming about Hillary Clinton having over $20 million in campaign debt? That by the way, is roughly half of her total wealth. Why haven't you claimed this debt makes her totally incapable of running any government financing?

I too am worth nowhere near $100 million and I will on occasion in the course of my business run up 100k or more with AmEx, and like you my credit is just fine TYVM.

It's hard to imagine a smaller set than black men who sound Ivy League, and it will be nothing short of amazing if Obama wins.

But McCain's promise to continue Bush's policies is clear, and makes Bush an issue where he might not otherwise be.  (We shall see if people start calling McCain a flipflopper as they did Kerry - certainly it is far more richly deserved.)

Bush's insistence on secrecy in government puts him in the position of being unable to explain his failed policies.   There seems to be a massive groundswell of dissatisfaction with unexplained wars that are going nowhere, and a runaway Dow that still does not get down to the street.

Bush personally may be an idiot.  It's more likely that he's fully able to keep up with his Cabinet, and they are fully able to protect their interests, and the interests of their constituents, but they choose not to explain their actions.

Your credit score is not determined by the credit debt to your assets.  It is determined by your credit debt to your credit card limit.  Wealth or assets have nothing to do with your credit score.
