It's an accounting problem - do we want to sleep longer, or not?

are we making a net profit on our time, or not?  What is profit?  Should we release oourselves from the cycle of misery, or what?

So if there is anything I am more cynical of than "science", it's conclusory "studies".  Why believe this scientist any more than any other, or not?  Why not become a monk?  Buddhist, Taoist, or what?

IOW, look at his assumptions and work, please.  At least Wikifuckingpedia it.  Why should we believe YOU, let alone some bald 25 year old accountant?!

It's sort of like this:  who do you want telling you what to do?  Your govt, your GF, your wife, your DI, your boss?   Because we know if somebody isn't telling you what to do, you'll just be jacking off, getting drunk or watching porn on the internet, and we can't have that.

well, we are about to go on DST.  why?  well - we were "told" by the g-men that we saved electricity.... ie - energy... and yet - studies do not support that hypothesis...

This is a typical example of a concept becoming so ingrained that it is hard to displace... even with Data....  and the left wing yahoos.... wonder why I am skeptical of "feel good science"  

What prey tell is "feel good science"?  it is science that is performed such that the results generated are supportive of a "man is bad" position - ie - "mankind created global warming" - that is the position - without even verification that global warming is occurring...  

yea... I really believe ANY scientific statement without verification...

Up here in the northern climes having that extra hour of daylight in the evening and it not getting dark until 10 pm is a pure luxury after suffering through darkness starting at 5pm in the afternoon during the winter!

The DST change over was started well before any official importuning to conserve energy.  And it used to occur atthe end of April; why it's been move up to the start of March is mystery.  Is it intended to combat a growing incidence of Seasonal Affective Disorder [and ain't it really cute how that anocryn  spells SAD?].

I think the explanation is lot's more unscientific -- people just wanted to have the "extra hour" of daylight while they're conscious.  Or at least approximately so.  Me, any excuse for a nap.
