Several people I know had serious issues this month. From late direct deposits to not being able to get statement off the SSA website. If things don't get fixed, the 2026 campaign will be "We warned you, now lets us fix it, your vote counts".
SSA is requiring people to appear in-person to fix issues, which can't be done online, including applying for new benefits, in order to avoid fraud. I have no problem with that. However, DOGE is laying off 12% (7,000) of the SSA workforce and closing 47 field offices across 18 states, mainly in the South and Southeast. Do you get the feeling the left hand and the right hand are not working together??
