US Corporations making India prosper!

My neighbor who is catering manager for Lufthansa is married to an Indian woman who is a VP at Target India.  He travels every weekend to be with her and their children until he can get her to immigrate to Germany.   Their children go to one of the top private schools run by Austrian nuns offering highest standard of education matched only in UK.  I was delighted to look at the web site and the picture gallery of Target India.  

Looking at the gallery, I did not see any stereoteyped dead corpses, cows or dogs but an enviable office complex, neat and clean with employees enjoying their work and cultural events.

The highly qualified professionals support thousands of check out registers and computers in hundreds of Target stores in US from across the continent!   Amazing.

Their perks include, 30 days of annual vacation with Target paying for travel by air to a place of employee's choice.  30 sick days, 7 days of casual absence days, complete medical care for employee, family and employee's parents.   At end of the year they all get bonus equal to 20% of their annual salary.

I thought Europe was employee friendly but US companies in India, beat us hands down.

As a Bio Chemist I worked at German Merck in Mumbai, India for 11 years.   It is like your New York City, the Harlem, The Bronx and then Westchester.   They have Malabar Hills, Bandra and Juhu all ocean front communities.  

So, don't think the whole country is filth.   I suggest you take a walk in Harlem between 110th and 143rd street and see for yourself what a hell hole people live in.

About Americans migrating to India, actually they don't want you guys.   Jocks and Barbie Dolls can never get the real technical jobs done.   They need brains coming out of colleges in India.   So, stay put in US and join the Tea Party who will save your country from becoming a third world empire.

"Hell hole"? I'd say the people living in Haiti live in a hell hole. I've done volunteer work in the Tijuana dumps, and I'd say those people live in a hell hole. I don't see anything racist about saying that myself. I think your feelings toward this person is clouding your reasoning.

India signed $13 billion dollar deal for buying Military transport Air Craft and Lockheed and Boeing are negotiating a $150 billion dollar deal for Multi Role Combat Aircraft. All that is making US prosper.

Few folks here have their head stuck up their asses, they just mouth off with no facts. Then again that is the right wing mantra. Take GaG's post for example, he has never been to India. There shopping centers, office complexes, and malls in India that will put many such places in the West to shame, no to mention Five Star hotels like, Taj, Oberoi, etc. Bangalore has worlds first 7 star hotel, Leela Palace.

India also has multinational Corporations, Tata's, Infosys, Wipro, etc.

I bet most doesn't know that Tata owns Rover Group which, Jaguar, Range Rover and Land Rover. Only know what Glen Beck says on Fox.

Benlanger, the places you mention in Bombay are great places. Majority of the US populace thinks that the US is the only country on earth, if not the Universe while sliding down the rat hole fast.

Education, is only available in the US, all other countries are illiterate while, Universities in the US has to recruit students from India to fill Masters and Phd courses in math and science. Besides, UK, Germany, France, Russia all have excellent academic institutions.

It is true that much of India is squalor and terrible poverty, and that the part hired by this company is very small.

However, one of the good things that "multi-national" companies do is that they hire local people in a manner that raises their standard of living incredibly well.  The workers have tons of money to spend on other things, usually in their community.  

Look at what you described.  Is that bad that those people have that improved life?  

I am not denying how hard it is on Americans when jobs are exported.  However, there is a silver lining for the world, if not for the person who lost his job.  (I am saying it is a tragedy for the individual.)

In fact, in terms of "foreign aid," multi-nationals may be the most effective aid there is.

Finally, the richer people get the more concerned they are about their (and the world's) enviornment.  Middle class areas of Egyps, India, Syria, Turkey, Mexico, and a dozen other countries I have seen are much cleaner than the poorer areas.  And a lot is people in those areas just don't litter as much.  When you are starving, it is hard to think of the environment.  When you are rich, you start having contact with Europeans and Americans who are more likely to epxress enviornmental concerns than the poorest of those countries.

"I will never understand why some human beings take such pleasure in the misery of other human beings".

Those who know, who said it, where he said it then you won't take pleasure in poverty and misery.

As an historical fact, before the India was attacked and pillaged by the Persians, and Colonized by England for 200 years, India was the richest country in the world. Colonization did most of the damage, in 200 years of colonization, from being a wealthiest country, India became, one of the poorest. Even today, if UK returns all that they took from India, if will be wealthy again.
