Everyone I know who shoots wears them to protect from ear damage. Aside from that I don't see much wrong, though the angle makes it look like he's shooting down.
And if you look closely, I think you can see a shell casing flying by his head, though it didn't hit him. The gun is designed to eject spent shells to the side.

Do I flash it around. It's my secret so why broadcast it? The whole mental makeup of showing your guns, flashing them in photo ops or shooting your gun, so what's the deal??? I've always thought it was a way for making up for their lack of masculinity or maybe their shortcomings? I'm not Freud or Dr. Spock...but I'm sure I ain't far.

.223 assault rifle, which can easily damage your eardrums, indoors or out.  Listen to Nick.  If you're in combat, its one thing to not wear ear protection, but don't try to be butch on the practice range.  It just makes you look like a rookie.

Virtually all firearms are made with right handed people in mind, that is why the shell casing always eject to the right, AWAY from the body of a right handed shooter. Yes you can fire an "assault weapon" left handed but it's awkward, most people who are left handed use a "brass deflector" to keep the casings (which are VERY hot) from flying across the face and possibly coming in contact with the skin of a left handed shooter.

As GaG notes below, there are brass deflectors available for left handed shooters. But aside from that, there’s no “different” shooting stance recommended for firing left handed.

In Army Basic Training, brass deflectors are issued to lefties as the assumption is the trainees are “new” shooters and the ejecting rounds crossing in front of their faces would cause them to flinch. Once in the field, a good number of these soldiers abandon the deflector as unnecessary. There’s always a chance that a hot brass casing could burn a shooter’s face, so I always encouraged my soldiers to stick with the deflector. But if I had a lefty qualified as expert on the M16 and he didn’t want to use a deflector, I wasn’t going to make him change up.

A closer read would show that my insights on the use of brass deflectors lines up with GaG’s input. I happen to be a leftie who shoots right because that’s how I was taught to fire at summer camp.
