The guy was taunted by someone off camera, then confronted by another guy who was at least as aggressive as him, then assaulted by a cop. No way he gets convicted of anything.

Assault? All three are solid charges.

What he ends up pleading guilty to will depend on his prior record and what kind of a deal his lawyer can get from him. A good lawyer can avoid a trial. A better lawyer should be able to get him probation before judgment.
