The republican party is supposed to be about smaller government and less spending, in the three and a half years that GWB has been in office, government has grown and spending is out of control. They have no excuse, they control all three branches of government and yet they've done nothing to stem both trends.  What does that tell you about the present administration, they are liars.  I listened to Bush's convention speech, and he spoke about all the things he will do (if he were president, which he is), well what is stopping him, he's already had three and a half years and he did nothing to pass any of the programs he spoke about in his speech (and by the way it was almost the same speech as four years ago) and it's not like he has resistance in the congress. HE IS JUST A BIG LIAR and will do nothing in his second term either, WAKE UP.

he can't take care of domestic issues while raging this fraudulent war. Lyndon Johnson had Vietnam and still didn't neglect the home front, he pass some of the  most sweeping civil rights and domestic legislation.  Are you telling me Johnson was a better president then "W"? And maybe you could tell me if he didn't have time to work on domestic issue in his first term, what makes you think he'll have time in his (hopefully not) second term, he'll still have the war and terrorists. Maybe he should have said at the convention "I'm really business right now and all you unemployed, uninsured and sick Americans, I don't have time to deal with your minor issues, so you're on your own".

Lyndon Johnson was evil. He was for sure one of the worst presidents this country has ever had.

Only Lyndon Johnson could turn victory into defeat.  In 1968 the North Vietnamese launched the Tent Offensive.  The U.S. forces regrouped and massacred them. WE KICKED ASS.  Lyndon Johnson was in such shock that he stopped the bombing of the North directly afterward and handed the North a huge psychological victory. When we stopped bombing the North, they only had one more days worth of surface to air missiles.  We would have had impunity in the sky.

Lyndon Johnson increased taxes exponentially. He set the groundwork for the economic chaos form 1970 to 1980.

Lyndon Johnson started the war on poverty. I was for it, most Republicans went along with it.  We were promised that if we just fund these programs, WE WILL ELIMINATE POVERTY IN 8 YEARS. Yes, that is what was promised.  The welfare programs did the exact opposit.  It destroyed black and white families. Illegitamcy for blacks and whites in 1964 24% and 3%.  Illegitamcy for blacks and whites in 2000 70% and 26%.  Single parenthood causes poverty. And the poverty rate went from 9% in 1967 to 16% in 1980

Lyndon Johnson was an evil bad man.  And so is Ted Kennedy only worse.
Ok, Lyndon Johnson was not evil.  He was just a major screw up.

So ugly, that the US forces would be quite offended and just leave ?

A good Idea Geezer !!!  Say, perhaps you can send Georgie a picture of your ugly mug and he can drop 8x10's all over Iraq and Afghanistan.  The enemy will no doubt find that offensive and give up immediately.  Hell, Osama might even off himself.

Btw, when you send the photo to Georgie make sure to tell him the plan - Otherwise, the Secret Service may take you sending your picture as a threat against the President (far worse than any anthrax-laced envelope, for sure).

Wait, on second thought NOT a good idea.  We would then be accused of genocide.  Hmmm, what to do ...

CBS, ala Cronkite led the American people to believe that we lost the Tet Offensive.  When in reality we kick-ed the NVA asses and they were about to give up!

CBS, ala Cronkite gave them encouragement to continue and at the same time discouraged the American people against the war effort.

America's most trusted man used his position to promote his opinion instead of reporting the news.  One of the reasons that his picture is right next to John Kerry's in the war museum in Ho Chi Minh City of American's who helped win the war for communism.

You may call it reporting, I call it treason.  I'm sure the 3,500,000 people who were killed by the communist after our departure would agree with me!  

That you can look back at such a travesty of actual genocide with stupid humor is sickening.
