Is it time to lock up the current dems in Congress?

WTF

I see now that the dems want to push through a $250 payment to all recipients of social security.  I guess they read a poll somewhere pointing out that seniors pretty much abandoned them in this past election so they feel it's necessary to try and buy their votes with a little taxpayer money.

This bunch of dems are simply out of control and need to be locked up for ignoring the voters of this country.

Well, if the repubs or the tea party or whomever attempts the same shit, then I say lock them up too.

I'm so sick of seeing these damn politicians lie through their teeth to get elected, ignore the vast majority of the voters, and then thumb their noses at anyone who dares challenge them.  It's been a very long time, but I seem to remember studying Constitutional Law wherein a preamble right bestowed on a citizen is the obligation and right to use force when a government becomes unresponsive to the electorate.  If my memory is correct, I hope it never comes to that but someday, somehow, the electorate must have its wishes honored.  Just saying...

Or, a Republican district or democratic district? Well, that's why politician's "ignore the vast majority of the voters." Because, they only have to answer to the constituents in their district or state. Of course many of them lie, or change their minds once they get elected, and those constituents need to hold them accountable for it, but if they can bring home enough bacon (pork=jobs), then their constituents usually let they're lying ride. And, that's also probably why there won't be substantial armed insurrection.

The people lying? or the people buying the lie?

Logic states:

If politicians are lier's and they keep getting elected by lying, why would they stop lying?

This is want happens, when people become unidimensional and selfish on national issues, all can be distracted and lied to simply by diverting attention on to unidimensional issues such as deficit, spending, taxes, etc. When you combine all three, you get a different picture, different question, and possibly a different answer.

Where the great statesmen this country used to have and used to produce to lead this great nation? Anyone seen one lately?

..."well, gee, yeah, I suck, but you suck too."

Such arguments are defeatist by their very nature. They demonstrate on their face a lack of courage.

One could instead say 1) my team did something that should be done. And here's why:

or,

one could say 2) my team fucked up. I agree with you.

Few people are willing to say "my team fucked up" because, whether it's conscious or not, it would demonstrate a personal failing on their part.

One might also ask, in context to pwilley's post, is there any history of lame duck Congresses doing controversial things?

The answer is that they certainly is such a history. Bill Clinton was impeached by a lame duck Congress, and they did so after the party in power lost seats in the election.

One could then argue which action is more worthy of imprisonment.

I think they are countless millions of us who don't believe that there is anyone that truly represents our interests.

Pri might lean left, as I do right, (on fiscal matters at least), but that doesn't mean that his team is the Dems or the my team is the GOP. Like Pri I despise both parties, just not equally.

When Harry Reid inevitably fucks up, Pri will have to take at least some ownership for voting for him, but he is on the record as stating that he only voted for Reid because Angle was so reprhensible, and even though I see Reid as the greater villian, I am not going to take Pri to task for any misdeeds that Reid does in the future, well at least that's what I say now. lol

...but a basic element of human nature is to self-identify with a particular tribe. Everyone does this, regardless of whether we recognize it or not. This tribe needs not be limited to political parties, even if we're discussing politics.

I simply hold my nose and vote for the person I believe will do the least damage, or on that rare ocassion, I will vote for a person I actually respect and believe in, but of course that is a distinct rarity.

There are times when both parties are so loathesome that you can't relate to either side. If SouthernJezebel and liorr got into an argument, who would you side with? lmao

...but if you had the power to change either party into your ideal, which party would you choose? I'm betting GaG that you wouldn't choose the Democrats. I'm betting Pria wouldn't choose the Republicans.

I would side with Jeze because she's a provider, and I like providers. :)

In a perfect world, I would tend to side with the Dems, I have an utter distaste for the religious right, and I find myself looking at the dems as children, unable to fend for themselves, whereas I look at the GOP more as my parents, dictating what I should do with my personal life.

Before you make your choice in regards to Southern Jezebel, have you ever seen her pics? you might just reconsider after you do.

...so you'd like to side with the Dems out of a sense or a desire (at some level) to protect them?

Yikes. Maybe it's the mangina in me, but I try to avoid being overly critical of any provider's appearance. :)

SouthernJezebel. If I lost the argument I would hate to fucked by Liorr. LMAO. I try and pick the worst one on the off chance he/she will be elected. No one will work with them, they won't be assigned anything worth while and they will stand out as a dummy do nothing.

Nwxt time around maybe the King Makers will take you more seriously. They will at least provide you with a damn good liar.

When you have a bad rep in Congress or the Senate it really isn't imporantant who you replace them with. Just replace them. Here is the logic:

1. It is very difficult to get a bad Congressman or Senator out of office.
2. When you have the chance take it. No matter what.
3. If you can replace the person with someone even worse it will be easy to replace that one with some
someone a lot better 4 years later.
4.  Both political parties will try a lot harder to offer you a much better canadiate.
5. The greater of two evils will get you back to even a lot faster than the lesser of two evils.
6. Chances are the greater of two evils will not have the smarts or time to steal that much.

Harry Reid shoul have gone no matter what.

but a junior senator from a state like Nevada has little opportunity to do any real damage.

Harry Reid OTOH, well anybody that needs to be told must have been living in a cave for the last decade or two.

wow---a rarity----he just get laid or something ?----------kidding---LOL ! He  mentions " tribal affiliations"; tho an Atheist
my adult life, born a Jew. That's why Xiao constantly irritates me---- THREE THOUSAND posts knocking Israel ? Look, I realize the country is not perfect( particularly w/ its West Bank settlements, which I oppose ) but why can't Xiao devote 750 OP's each on Israel, Iran, N Korea & Pakistan ? Latter 3 countries FAR more a security threat to the U.S & world peace than Israel. I realize one can be anti-Zionist w/out being Anti-Semitic, but certanly not the case w/ Xiao, despite protestations from "apologists" like Marikod.

Another "tribal affiliation" : I'm a proud left of center progressive, Willy, but I can't defend either party because I hate GOP extremism & the perpetual spinelessness of the Dems. You gotta admit, WW, the Dems have badly left the progressives down. Fuck both parties.

...anyone who frequents DC's board should know I'm not getting laid lately. However, I have run out of herbage for the moment, so I'm more sober than I usually am, lol.

It's no secret how I feel about the Dems. But the Dems have let down the progressives because they haven't held true to their ideals. It's the ideals of progressivism that makes progressives who they are. Not the other way around.

Giving a social security bonus is consistant with the ideals of progressivism. Not defending that as (dare I say) righteous and virtuous is showing a certain, shall we say, limpness on your part Pria.

Not trying to rile you up or anything. Maybe just stir you up a bit to get you out of a post-election funk.

What do you say about a party with healthy majorities in the House & The Senate that can't even pass a HC public option ? Not "milquetoast" on my part-------just fed up with "the wussy party". Frankly, don't give rat's ass that Dems lost the house; & not in a funk either----Sharron Angle lost, which made me very happy on election night.

As for my "limpness" , hot provider that I saw last week will dispute you on that------LMAO !

a "hot Vegas provider."   It can only help. As someone once said, "man does not live by the buffet alone" and obviously Priapus hasn't had any action in months.

Hopefully this will sharpen up his "detective skills" and help him distinguish the true anti -Semites from the Israelli critics like XIA.

people can vouch for my hobbying "adventues". As for not getting any "action" for months, untrue & don't project your non-existent sex life onto
me.

TER scuttlebutt is that you're a hobbyist wannabee ,  too scared to see a provider---do correct me if I'm wrong--------:)
