I think it will be a good long while before Chuck Todd invites him back

... discussion on the issues... much in the format of MtP...
and for spice - pick anyone from the time of radio (1920's) on forward.

Four people - no other criteria other than they be political reporters from broadcast or print media. Who would you choose?

Give me Edward R Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings and Tim Russert. The answer is 42. Voila.

So I would add Brit Hume.

I am a Jake Tapper fan too as I think he does a serious job and he strikes me as a non-partisan. I like Bob Woodward too.

I would steal Cronkite from your list to round out my group.

Good, thought provoking post Doc.

... no not THAT Michael Jackson...

This Michael Jackson - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson_(radio_commentator)

He was a brilliant interviewer in the political realm. A politically themed Johnny Carson would be an apt comparison.

Thanks:) From among the most respected of three generations of news reporters and anchors and Russert was always so well informed and even handed. Probably the last of his kind.

...on The Mary Tyler Moore Show was based on George Putnam (and Jerry Dunphy's white hair).  Putnam was every bit as pompous and egotistical as Ted Baxter.

And as far as being a deep thinker goes, Putnam narrated a film entitled "Perversion for Profit", in which he warned viewers about magazines containing nudity and homosexual material, saying homosexuals were "perverted" and "misfits", as well as implying they were child molesters.

...Excellent choices doc, all very serious seekers of truth, how do you think they would treat a discussion of Putin's poodle our new liar in chief?

Since it's my thread I feel entitled to stretch your rules.

My picks:
P.J. O’Rourke
Camille Pagila
Rush Limbaugh
William Buckley
Andrew Breitbart
Katie Pavlich

OK, Katie Pavlich is a stretch but she's single and really hot.

Do you remember a show, Meeting of Minds, created by and starring Steve Allen where actors would play famous people from history and then Steve would interview them? See youtube link for episode #1. The Set looks a lot like Archie Bunker's living room. Notice that Sun Yat-Sen didn't mind being called "oriental".

And she balances out Camille who's definitely not.

While I no longer remember much in detail, I definitely remember watching the show as a kid.

Rick Santelli can be a bit "much" at times, but he nailed it this morning.

and I agree it may be quite some time before he is invited back. The truth really is NOT appreciated on shows where political correctness is expected. The media hates it when getting called out by "one of their own"
