in so many of the battleground states, who have suffered large job losses.  The voters have usually favored Democrats when the economy is on their minds.

While the rest of the country focuses on the war in Iraq and the threat of terrorism, the voters in the battleground states will "vote their pocketbooks" and put Kerry in the White House.

question that the most recent job statistics will hurt Bush and help Kerry.  The election will be determined (as it usually is) by the performance of the economy, which for the moment seems to have lost considerable momentum.  The next two months of economic data will tell the story.

The Election in 68 wasn't determined by the economy but the Vietnam War.

The economy will play a big part in Nov though.

Bush can't stand on his economic record very well. that's why he attacks Kerry's war record though some veterans group that has a grudge.

The US electorate hasn't been this divided since the Vietnam War.
