... the "unnamed sources" are starting to leak at the WH.  Bush was apparently BS that he heard about his problem from the newspapers.  I'm looking for Rummie Out, Powell to Defense, Rice to State, ??? to National Security.

If I am right, all of you must chip in and buy me an evening with NOSC.

Is I am wrong, I will publish a post saying all the people that did not agree with me are the smartest people in the world...

Harry

A week doesn't go by without some new revelation about Iraq.  Bush can only spin for so long before he just drills himself right into a hole.

What you are describing would be the typical democrat response to a difficult problem, find a scapegoat!  Bush won't do that.  My one caveat would be that Rumsfeld just gets sick and tired of the slimey crap coming from rat bastards like Biden and quits.  But I suspect he probably enjoys causing jack offs like Biden to meltdown and he has far too much character to quit in the middle of the job!

Those slackers, scum suckers in the Senate (Biden, et al) who are doing what they do (make stupid, outrageous statements in order to get their ill deserved TV face time) notwithstanding!  Their attempt to blame Rumsfeld for the alleged POW misbehavior is going to really blow up in the Dems faces.  America loves the guy, he shoots straight and just annihilates the likes of Katie Couric et al every time they interview him with their stupid, asinine questions.  Of course the stupid talking heads of the networks just hate him for it, and it shows, daily.

Bush has the right guy in the right place, he knows it, America knows it, the Dems know it and especially the terrorists know it!

After all, that is why Biden has spoken out isn't it?  Too embolden the terrorists, because mishaps in Iraq are just about the only thing they have going for them!  Too bad they play so fast and loose with our Men and Women's lives over there.  But anything to regain power I guess, fuck everything else, and yes, I think Biden is just about as unAmerican as you can get today!

It is sad to see that you failed to maintain any type of standard in the post that I am responding to.  You completely failed to make any rational argument, the only distinctive characteristic of your post was that it was filled with insulting names for public officials.  There many public personalities and politicians whom I have vast differences with, but I refrain from calling them names and try to intelligently state my differences with them.
It is good to see you post here, I do not agree with you on many issues, but that is life.  I only hope that you will raise your standard of discourse in future posts.

Bush does not like to find out what is going on from a CNN report.  If Rummie gets moved, it will be because he screwed up with his boss, not because he is going to be scapegoated.   I don't think the president's public statement of support for the SOD today tell all the story of what is going on in that relationship.

Actually, I think the evidence is pretty good that Bush knew all about what was happening at the Abu Ghraib prison since at least early January (both Salon.com and Ron Brownstein of LATimes). That's what makes it all the more egregious when George W. mentioned repeatedly in January through April of 2004 that the U.S. has ended the Iraqi rape and torture rooms. Brownstein on Lou Dobb's news program (CNN) today also pointed out that each of the tripods supporting the war has now been invalidated: i) Saddam behind 9/11; ii) Iraq's weapons of mass destruction; and iii) "liberating" Iraq so that freedom can ring from every corner (actually, that ringing is probably the explosion of an RPG).

My guess is that these interrogation procedures, tailored with care for each society in question for maximal psychological impact, have been used throughout the 'gulag' that George W. has erected from Guantanamo to Afghanistan to Iraq to wherever else the CIA has internment camps.

... we are due for the next scandal and congressional hearings about now.   We won't know, but I'll bet there has been little useful intellegence obtained for all our efforts in this area.

Well, you have to remember that George W.'s testimony before the September 11 commission was with Cheney, and without any stenographer or device to record their 'conversation'. It was only a conversation, because neither George W. or Cheney were sworn in. As a nice touch, White House staff thoughtfully collected the notebooks that the 9/11 commisioners took notes in, so that nothing could leak out.

One wonders what further secrets are yet to be discovered...and these secrets do seem to find a way to surface.

Whenever someone from their side screws up, they lash out at their critics by calling them names and accusing them of being un-American or unpatriotic, all with the clear intention of diverting attention from their mistakes.

So, the next time you hear some conservative questioning Kerry's purple hearts or his war record, just realize it is an attempt to divert your attention from Bush's National Guard record.

The next time you hear that Kerry is soft on defense, it is to make you forget that Cheney's record on defense is much softer.

The next time you hear that Kerry will raise taxes, it is to cover up the fact that the deficit has exploded under Bush.

intent to divert attention away from their weaknesses.

A consistent pattern from the conservatives on this board.

Bribite is absolutely correct about Rummy. He is the right man at the right time to be Secretary of Defense. No tolerance for fools, enemy combatants, or bullshit. He will make sure that the idiot REMF's who abused the prisoners get the UCMJ thrown at them. Should he get his ass chewed for not bringing the full scope of the problem to Bush's attention? Yes. But no way should he resign.

... I'm liking my chances even more.

it looks to me like there are parts of the GOP rank and file that are upset over the treatment of prisoners and continuing problems in Iraq (nothing wrong with that).  The president's quick response suggests there are both international and domestic political overtones.  If the GOP base gets really upset, the SoD could go in a NY Minute.  He has no great allies in the congress, the Pentagon, or within the GOP.  If the war becomes a liability in enough congressional races, he would become a millstone and pressure would mount on Bush from inside his own party.

The SoD's strongest supporters are the NeoCons:  people that would go for Bush anyway because they have no other choice and won't sit on their hands for the election.  Bush has Powell with enough credentials to step into his place.  The NecCon establishment doesn't have anybody with a resume that would look right if he replaced the current SoD and had to take over under fire.

because when someone leaves they write a book exposing an embarassing fact about Bush.

After all, it would be the right thing to do, and this administration just can't seem to do the right thing, even when it's the easy way. Besides, Bush wouldn't have Rummy to help run the government, and Cheney's not in good enough shape to do it all alone.

Haven't you Lefties learned by now that, where personnel is concerned, at least, Bush won't satisfy your blood lust?

I wish I could say the same about socialist welfare policies.
