Does Obama have the Guts and Backbone to be President?

I think the senator from Illinois should be grateful to Palin in that it has taken the spotlight off his thin resume and lack of acheivements in Public life. But he  seems to shy away from a tough fight and leadership role.
Where was his leadership in this economic crisis? He has stayed mostly in the background except for a photo op or two.    One could argue that Hillary showed more guts and yes BALLS in the final months of the Primaries and he barely hung on to win.
So far he gives wonderful speeches and has benifitted from unbelievebly positive Press coverage.
So you Obama-ites  out there , please make your case that he is ready to be President. That he can come across as a strong leader and overcome partisanship in Congress.

he is merely asking this country to commit national suicide by electing a black muslim communist. His apparent theory is, "there is no harm in asking". The illiberal press and light headed ignorant arrogants have all been mesmerized by the son-of-a-bitch and his shit ass wife.

We're well beyond this experience and resume argument.  Perhaps it would have been issue way back in the beginning of the primaries, but it's a moot point now.  Just let it die.  We want the individual with a better understanding of this country and where the presidency should take it. A leader that supports a disastrous, destructive and pointless war in Iraq has poor judgment.  Someone who doesn't understand the US economy and would currently characterize that economy as "strong," isn't qualified to hold ANY position in federal government - not even postal carrier.  An individual that supported (though he's now changed his mind) deregulation of banks in the past, lacks the foresight, consistency, and intelligence to be President; and finally, to pick Sarah Palin as VP?  lol.

I guess I can appreciate a thoughtful, learned individual who can assess a crisis and respond in a manner which is most effective to reaching a solution; more so than I would someone who shoots from the hip; responding in an incoherent and erratic manner which distracted from the situation and ultimately did no good.  McCain "suspended" his campaign in attempt to circumvent all the exposure his poor judgment was receiving - it wasn't some cathartic reaction to pick up the burden of his senatorial duties.  In the end, he got in the way and contributed absolutely nothing to reaching an resolution to this economic disaster.  If you admire THAT, then that's the guy you should be casting your vote for on November 4.

We've already seen where admiration of mediocrity in our leaders can get us.  Call it guts, call it backbone, or whatever common descriptor you can conjure up - but all you're really looking for is someone that reflects your own intellectual shortcomings in the highest office of government in the US.  I'm not comfortable with that...

He is indeed different. I don't mind most "different" as I am a true liberal who believes in basic human freedom, including freedom of thought, which tolerance is, of course, abhorent to illiberals. I don't, however, support a black muslim communist who believes that it is his duty to destroy America. Drink more kool aid and hope that it helps you mature.

"black muslim communist"  >>>  yeah I'm the one that needs to "mature" ... the only "tolerance" you display is that of an ignorant bigot.

As far as "destroying America", the beligerant, erratic foreign policies of McCain are more likely to get us into more needless wars that will ultimately put this country on its ass.

On one hand, you criticize Obama fro coming up through the rough and tumble world of Chicago politics. On the other hand you criticize him for being weak.

Which is it. Is he a heavy hitter who has the backing of the bad dudes from Chi-town, or is he the milquetoast who somehow happens to be nominated for president of the US?

I know it's hard for you right wingers to actually face reality but you're gonna have to when you wake up after the election and Obama is president. One reality you'll have to face is that Obama is a masterful politician, probably even more gifted than Clinton. He'd better be because he's going to have some really tough shit to deal with in his first term.

C'mon guys. You really think a guy with no balls can take on the Clintons and win? The fact is that he outmanaged, outpoliticked, outspoke, outfundraised one of the most powerful organizations in America today- the Clintons. Kudos to the man for having the energy, smarts, and dedication to do that.

Regardless of what you think about his policies, he's got wayyyyy more balls than anyone on this board, especially the bully boy rightwingers who think they're the only 'real' men.

It doesn't take balls to be in the Chicago machine.  It just takes a lack of morality and the willingness to be a political hack.

Obama was a lefty radical and a devotee of Saul Alinsky.  It's only natural that he would drift to the mecca of Alinsky radicalism; Chicago.

It's only natural that he would become friends with assholes (Bill Ayers and his co-terrorist wife Bernardine Dohrn) and commit white collar crime with Tony Rezko.  It's only natural.

Obama is green.  No knowledge or experience.  He worked for rent a mob--oh sorry--ACORN.

The dems are scumballs, Chris Snappingpoodle Dodd, Fuck U Schumer, and Barney Spitswhentalks Frank.  They and Franklin Raines and Tim Johnson belong in jail.

I hope it makes you feel better.

I'm sure it'll do wonders when Obama is president, too.
