This is an angle that newspapers always play up to generate clicks. Every time Republicans gather there are articles about escorts/strippers looking to cash in and/or a spike Grindr usage. It works real well because it combines hypocrisy with a salacious subject matter. In a week or two we will see similar stories about the super bowl. This is just another reminder that there are people out there that are dangerous. Guys should take extra steps to protect themselves. You never know who is out there with their knives out.

This specific story revolves around DC, but it’s a nationwide phenomenon. In a few weeks, the press will be running “Hookers At The Super Bowl” stories. Then the next big event after that, and then the next one.

I didn't notice the switch from (General? I think I replied on General) to P&R until now. In my replies to Qs from touring Providers, I often suggest that they check the local Convention Bureau schedules and the local sports (especially local playoff) schedules and other local "event" schedules (college graduations eating up hotel rooms, etc.). Such competition can sequester TIME and DISPOSABLE INCOME, tie up traffic (Boston Marathon), and affect the success of a tour. "I would have loved to see you but I had Celtics tickets and I lost my R&R money on the fuckin' Bruins!" type stuff.

Although some Providers AVOID big conventions (hotel availability and prices go up) and some FOLLOW the conventions (attendees looking to skip a seminar or two for a little R&R), the particular "convention" in the OP was highly politicized and one can interpret the timing and tone of the post to be political ... or not.
