I would note that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) does not list sex addiction as a mental disorder.

I would also note that Sex Addicts Anonymous uses the classic 12 step program, 5 of which are religious in nature. It mimics "break-down" therapy, which has been shown to be harmful in many cases.  

Furthermore, I would say that SAA is further harmful, as it may lead to a patient being treated incorrectly, when a serious issue may be present. One of the biggest hurdles in the treatment of mental health is to get the patient to understand that there is a problem.

Someone undergoing SAA treatment, may think that they have been treated from their mental illness, when they are actually suffering from an undiagnosed case of histrionic personality disorder or borderline personality disorder. To give you an idea of how much of a serious mistake this could be, the vast majority of borderlines attempt suicide, and 10% complete it, and account for a third of all suicides in the United States.

Granted, there is debate about what/if sex addiction is.  However, it is hard to argue the fact that most men involved in the hobby exhibit classic addictive behavior.

"Sexual addiction is best described as a progressive intimacy disorder characterized by compulsive sexual thoughts and acts. Like all addictions, its negative impact on the addict and on family members increases as the disorder progresses. SAA is a 12 step program and has saved countless lives.  We all understand and are taught that SAA, as with any 12 step program, is a tool to achieve a better life.  It is not sold as therapy.  In fact it is specifically pointed out (in my experience) that SAA does not replace professional therapy.  

For you to summarily dismiss SAA and link it to increased suicide is a vast disservice to those who, with even a moderate foundation of faith, can become better human beings with SAA.

The serious mistake would be to not even consider opening your heart to a deeper understanding of the Spirit, and make your light shine more brightly before others.

There is more danger to the human body and mind when  not having sex, than having sex ten times a week.  

Men who do not have a active sex life, have a much higher chance of developing life threatening disease.

  Any sane man would much rather die from  sex than prostate cancer.

 Did you notice this is the Politics and Religion board?
 I am shocked you would admit to whining to administration ,over a post that is likely faith oriented, although disguised as sex addiction.
Most guys here couldn't care less if they are addicted to sex. Most people have some sort of addiction, some healthy and some not. I don't believe sex is an addiction, anymore than enjoyment of daily swimming.
I don't agree with the OP, however I hope admin doesn't take your fears into their consideration of censorship.
 I was forced to go to church as a child. Holy water didn't stunt my growth.
You have a board you are allowed to control.
Perhaps you would feel more secure spending your time, where religious talk is not allowed.
Be a man, embrace your fears of those that believe in  powers of magical  water , lest they consume your stature.

This same poster has made the same post on several boards and I have already denied his post on my boards, FWIW I don't whine, only sniveling little douche bags whine. I was simply giving this particular douche bag fair warning.

Oh and BTW your feeble attempt at humor has fallen short once again, please don't give up your day job cleaning toilets. Your future as a comedy writer is about as promising as Marikods chances of becoming a male porn star, or at least an "employed" porn star.

 Most bosses don't want to waste their time, listening to petty, complaints that can be handled without them., and many  consider those that do, whiners. One of the first things janitors learn, don't bother big boss if the toilet won't flush.

This IS the  Politics and Religion Board.
  You have  control of your board, not this one.
               Deal with It.

If you tend to fly off the handle , because of religious speak, this is not  the place to be.
It could be inflicting  you with unnecessary stress.

This board doesn't revolve around singular views, on religion or politics,no matter what your social status.

I try not to argue with stupid people. Facts are irrelevant to them, and their feelbe attempts to engage in a "battle of wits" are akin to playing chess with a chimp.

I'll make one final attempt at getting through to you although I doubt your brain has the wattage to grasp such a complex topic as board spamming.

I have no fear of religion, my problem with this poster is that he/she is using this forum as a platform to "hobby bash" after being denied on several other boards. This is a forum for discussion, not to hawk products or preach 12 step programs. The last person allowed to do so was the "Avenging Fetus" who went on to create a blog that caused a lot of damage to several members of this site. Allowing someone else to us this forum as a pulpit should not be allowed, what they are preaching, whether it be AA, Scientology or even if they are a Goddamned Moonie, makes no difference. This is a discussion board, not a pulpit for preachers.

Hopefully even with your limited formal education and your apparent reading disability, even you should be able to understand the reason for disallowing such posts.

What appears in your eyes, is not always so.

I couldn't  care less if you blasted ptklin with as much mental midgetry, as you would care to  conjure up. I certainly didn't agree with his post, or your quest to contact admin to have him stifled. IMO both of you were equally as ridiculous.

After reading your last couple of posts, it's evident that my "feeling of superiority" is warranted.

I will give one last, final effort to get through to you. Just because you don't see his other, identical posts that he has attempted to post doesn't mean they don't exist. The OP efforts to spam the board with his anti sex propaganda failed on the other, moderated boards, every one of his other posts were disallowed, that's why he has brought his drivel here to an unmoderated board. Maybe this makes sense to you, maybe it doesn't. Either way, I'm done.
