At that time, he said that there were impropriaties in the government and took responsibility for them whether he was aware of them or not.  Further, he gave explicit published instructions to all members of his administration to cooperate fully with the investigation.

I hope Mr Bush will do the same around some issues that have been raised:  particularly around the outing of the CIA analyst and Mr Chillabi's role in deciding our initiation of the War.

While I personally think the story about Chillabi is much more complex than we understand right now, we need to know much more about what is going on here.

As a president, Mr Regan was an excellent communicator, good at strategy (setting broad policy goals,  and an unvolved administrator.  His problem with examining the details got him into the few problems his administration had.  He will be missed.
