If McCain pulls a upset and wins the election, will you support him as your President?

with the right of a vote of no confidence. There is nothing in the founding documents of this country that restricts our political choices to the dems or gop. These parties did not even exist at our founding. Today, they are so totally owned and controlled by the people who own this country that, though there are real differences between the parties, and one may legitimately prefer one over the other, supporting the two party system leaves most of us fighting over the scraps that the robber barons are willing to leave for us; the scraps are getting thinner and thinner every year as wealth continues to concentrate in fewer and fewer hands, and taxpayer dollars are appropriated to guarantee their "income" despite the shoddy and often illegal practices they employ in bilking Americans at every turn.
Campaign finance reform, AKA McCain-Feingold did nothing to help. The best shot at reducing the power of incumbency is term limits. The Republicans passed them in the 90’s but the SCOTUS struck them down so now a constitutional amendment is needed. BTW, the constitution does not allow votes of no confidence except on the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November during election years.

so the issue of a vote of no confidence does not have to be dismissed as "unconstitutional". A multi party system in addition to this makes for a government which is more responsive to the people and much more difficult for an oligarchy or power elite to control.
I merely pointed out the the second point would require one as well.
Even when there may not be disagreement, it gets inserted. Why is that?
I did point out that we have regularly scheduled votes of no confidence. We don't want to end up looking like the Italians, do we?

We are on an out of control downhill run that can be prevented only by ousting the running dog capitalists lackeys from public office and prosecuting them in a court of the workers.
The majority of THIS board appear to be Obama Kool Aid drinkers - note McCain is leading in the TER Poll - and if he wins it won't be an upset. Don't believe the polls, they are biased in how they are conducted, do the research & check the methodology.
I'll be unhappy either way, but not as unhappy if he loses.
I will always respect the office of POTUS and whether I respect the office holder or not, I will always show respect.
As far as support, it depends on the office holders actions. I will do so if it is in the best interests of the country.

I am with you on that..I am quite disgusted of 16 years of half the country hating on the President. The best way for the country to get back on track is to stick together and stop moping when your heroes don't win..Support the President you might disagree,or dislike, with at least a grin.

I firmly believe that McCain has run a polarizing campaign.
If McCain were to win with this style of campaign after 8 years of Bush, it would signal to the most extreme elements of the Republican base that radicalism is appreciated by a majority of the American public.
This would be a great disappointment to me and as a result, I could only hope that McCain's presidency would be a miserable one forcing the country back to the middle.
You are usually fairly reasoned, but that is the most hypocritical thing said here in quite a while.
If BHO wins I hope he has a wonderful Presidency and the country flourishes. Anything that he does that I feel will help the country will get my support.

I'm not sure what you think is hypocritical. Can you explain it. I would be more than happy to recant and apologize if I understand where I have been hypocritical.
That is generally judged by a majority of the people believing so. Therefore a majority of the people would be unhappy with the 'miserable' results and would also consider that the country is worse off due to said results.
If the results are only miserable for McCain (and the GOP) then the majority of the people will be 'happy' and much less likely to bring about the change you hope for.
IOW, how can the failure of any Presidency be good for the country (during the term served)? I do understand that you are looking at a longer-term goal than just 4 years, but you are willing to sacrifice those four years in order to meet your goal.
See, for example, the last 4 years. Divisive politics drove us to elect George Bush for the second time notwithstanding a below 50% approval rating.
Things have gone so badly that now, we are forced to swing more toward the middle. Whether we will swing to far to the left remains to be seen. Just like the pendulum, wild swings to the left and right can often cause us to rest in the middle.
