I have done my best to stay away from this side (politics) of the TER boards, but recently decided to check it out. Just as I suspected, almost every thread ends up with the left bashing the right, and vice versa. No matter where the original subject of the post started. You will never be able to see the WHOLE picture if you are only willing to look at one side! All of the finger pointing and name calling is useless, and will not help make any progress where it is needed.
This problem is not exclusive to the United States, but worldwide. Most politicians are only looking at how something will benefit them individually. They could care less how it will affect anyone else down the line. A great leader needs to consider what will be best for everybody, even if it is not going to best for them personally.
Chances are things will not change, but hopefully at least a few people will try to view all sides of a situation before they make their opinion, or choose a side. NO SIDE IS ALWAYS CORRECT, and both sides are often wrong!
Thank you (I think LOL) NOSC for posting the Darfur information. Although politics usually make me mad, I will continue to visit the politics board from now on.
We have replaced politics with trials in the federal government. There is little or no political process anymore -- politicians are acting like paid advocates adopting positions of the interest groups that put them into power.
It's more fun to watch because real poitics is boring negoiation, but it isn't nearly as effective in getting the people's business done.
