ALL my brothers and sisters who serve/served...stand tall, be proud.

And let us all always, always remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, from our nations begining to the present and beyond.

WELL DONE

Thank You

I was happy to serve my country and volunteer in the armed forces, and I think it is something that would be a positive thing for every citizen...just like social service is.

Good on you-  My Grandfather served in the Bavarian army in the great one (not Gretzky) and always considered this a day for him too!  This is a day even for French Vets!  We all can recall they sacrificed more than any others in that "War to end all Wars".

So let's salute all veterans- except perhaps the PLA or Talibanners- they can still go sit and spin!

""This is a day even for French Vets!  We all can recall they sacrificed more than any others in that "War to end all Wars".""

The French, I'm sure have their own day and we'll not try to co-opt it. Meanwhile, anyone who wants to honor our sacrifices to free their continent is free to join in.

Are you the supidest person in creation?  This whole day/idea was STARTED BY THE FREAKIN FRENCH!  THEIR SACRIFICE AT VERDUN GAVE THEM THE IDEA>  IT IS THE SAME DAY IN ALL OF WESTERN EUROPE!  IT IS THE DAY WWI ENDED- FOR ALL THE COMBATANTS!

BK- I just want you to know that I still respect you-- just not very much....

So sad to see that the minor antipathy a few people have toward our one time saviours actually makes  people want to distance ourselves from them.  I long for a return to the spirit of the Escadrille Lafayette!  When they begged us for aid in 1940 and we wussed out, we ought to have known they could refuse us too when we asked.

For the record though.

""Veterans Day, holiday observed annually in the United States in honor of all those, living and dead, who served with the U.S. armed forces.""

Special emphasis on "U.S."

""France observes the Fête de l’armistice on November 11.""

See, you have your "Fete de l'armistance" mixed up with your "Veterans Day".

Talk about STOOOOPID!!! I'd love to read a French history book, wherein They rid the continent of war, not once, but TWICE!!! The second coming of course as the result in part from the shitty treaty ending the first!!!

LOL! Saviors, tell that to the F-111 pilots we lost because our "allies" would'nt give us flyover to Lybia. Hell, the french were probably stealing lunch money over there too.....

And a special prayer for all those now serving around the world, God Speed!
