I was happy to serve my country and volunteer in the armed forces, and I think it is something that would be a positive thing for every citizen...just like social service is.
Good on you- My Grandfather served in the Bavarian army in the great one (not Gretzky) and always considered this a day for him too! This is a day even for French Vets! We all can recall they sacrificed more than any others in that "War to end all Wars".
So let's salute all veterans- except perhaps the PLA or Talibanners- they can still go sit and spin!

I long for a return to the spirit of the Escadrille Lafayette! When they begged us for aid in 1940 and we wussed out, we ought to have known they could refuse us too when we asked.
