Here's a perfect example of the double standard we have come to know, love [some of you], denounce [one or two of us] but which ought never to surprise anyone anymore.

September 27, 2006 -- A year after barring a Columbia University Middle East scholar from lecturing public-school teachers on the history of the region, the city's Department of Education approved a course for instructors that was created by the Israeli government.
Billed as a first of its kind, the 30-hour "Introduction to Israel: History and Culture" course drawn up by the Israeli Consulate in New York is being taught to 36 city teachers this fall for credit that can be used to boost their pay.
[Can anyone spell D-O-U-B-L-E S-T-A-N-D-A-R-D? In early 2005 some self-selected defenders of the Israeli faith conducted a jihad against Columbis Unversity, making all manner of charges re political indoctrination by the instructors, political intimidation of the students, biased course content, blackballing invited guest speakers and the like. Two internal Columbia University investigations proved all chargs false with the exception of one accusation against one specific professor, Joseph Massoud, which he has repeatedly denied. But now we see that NYC schoolteachers will be treated to the unbiased presentatons of ME history designed and written by minions of the Israeli gov't. These ears strain mightily to hear any cries of protest re biased curricula, uneven political treatment of controversial issues, and the like. But then again, why should we ever expect that? This is Israel and it's supporters we are talking about, so any notions of fairness and consistency and just plain common sense will be conspicuous by their absence if their presence would serve to inconvenience the partisans of Zion in any manner whatsoever].
[And what exactly will those 36 teachers do with this "knowledge" after having taken the course? Are they going to turn around and pass on this "knowledge" to their delicate and innocent charges in classrooms all accross NYC? The mind boggles -- will there be a NYC boomlet of AIPAC-drones stalking the metropolis, endlessly repeating the mantras of "Israel good, Pallys bad" or "Islamofascist terror" and suchlike nonsense? Ther is one saving grace, however, cold comfort that in reality it is -- the bulk of the school-going population in NYC is extremely unlikely to even show up for class, let alone hit a class room, let alone be capable of understanding any of this, let alone listen to this pernicious political swill being ladled out in such generous portions. They're too busy evading capture by the police or cooling their heels in Central Booking or awaiting arraingment in Juvenile Court. Thank Allah for small favors -- and I do mean small].
Amir Ofek, the Israeli consul for public affairs here, defended the 15-session program as a general information course that "avoids political issues" and aims to broaden teachers' perspective on Israel.
[Amir Ofek, devoted appartchik he must certainly be, defends this "course" on the grounds that it " 'avoids political issues' " and "aims to broaden teachers' perspective on Israel." Oh, sure it does. And guess what's in the mail? And guess what I won't do in your mouth? I'm guessing that all 36 teachers are self-selected and no doubt [but i'd love to be wrong] can easily quote chapter and verse of the AIPAC worldview. What purpose does it serve the Israelis to present anyhing even remotely even-handed [apart from the unique novelty of the situation] regarding their Hobbesian struggle with the Pallys? It makes no sense -- but that's just a small tipoff about the immense arrogance of Israel and all it's supporters. This emperor clearly has no clothes, and never will. But they know no one is ever going to call them on it].
"Whatever we can do to promote understanding of our country and our environment, we will do," Ofek said. But among the lectures are "the Israeli-Arab conflict through the years" and "an overview of the challenges and major events from 1948 to present." Both talks would be given by an executive with the Zionist Organization of America.
[I had to pause to wipe the vomit off of my keyboard. My eyes bulge with incredulity as I read that third paragraph. And the veins in my neck are about to burst. Among the topics to be propagandized about, er, excuse me, to be taught are "the Israeli-Arab conflict through the years" and "an overview of the challenges and major events from 1948 to the present." And taught by executives of the Zionist Organization of America [no, it's not the US Congress but I undertand how many of us might be capable of making that mistake]. Yep, that's gonna be a motherlode of scholarly objectivity and detachment, as they carefully weigh some of the evidence and, surprise!!! find the Pallys guilty on all counts and the Israelis innocent of all wrongdoing. Honestly, i'm almost tempted to ask the NYC Board of Education for a syllabus and reading list, just to indulge my mashocistic whims. I can imagine the roster of potential guest lecturers : Elie Weisel, Alan Dershowitz, Bibi, Schransky, Ed Koch, Rabbi Avi Weiss, Lawrence Summers, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz. I could go on but the bile is rising].
The print version of this news article is considerably longer and goes into much more detail. The online version available to link is sadly much shorter, but it still gives you the flavor of the thing. Well, there's a bad aftertaste in my mouth after reading this.
I'm willing to TOFTT if thats what it will take to make you go away.
Here... double standard!!! there's one...
Here... Israel is a threat to you. there's two...
Here... AIPAC is a bunch of Joooz. that's three...
There. Argument over. You Win. NOW will you leave? Your obsession has become tiresome and tedious.
Not forever, but a small break might be arranged.
But your concession above is not much of a concession. Gruding at best, you give little but take back a lot. You must try harder Doc.
BTW, I had another great Benedict post the other nite, but it seems NOT to have made it onto the Board. Too bad, it's an editorial from the NY Sun wherein Benedict is lauded for using the term "reciprocity" in his comments re the Moslems, a term used often by no other than good old Bibi.
Not only does Benedict speak to the Tel Aviv-Washington Axis of Absurdity, but sadly, His Holiness [I type that with Great Sarcasm] listens to it as well. Prticularly the senior partner in the Axis.
Is it becoming more difficult to dispute my interpretations of the facts? You come accross as less "vibrant" than usual. I'm of course always great for any and all favors -- no matter how samll.
BTW, I see 7-11 will no longer carry CITGO. How will you gas up the Monster Trike w/o some of your har earned bucks going to the Islamofacscist Terrorist petroleum monopoloists?
And hey, not for nothing, was chavez's recent words at the UN enough to make you think of him as unfriendly to america nand unworthy of your American bucks?
There is a local brand called Alliance... its an independent... they have 101 unleaded there. I have been using the high octane fuel in the trike, and it does certainly run well.
Admittedly, I do not know where the source of their fuel is... and I know I'm making a deal with the devil no matter which way i go. There is some fodder for you to chew on and make some pompous reference to. See there? You're winning the argument Xiao. Isn't that wonderful? But I'm Damned as it is, and won't be around much longer, so who fucking cares anyway.
I know you don't.
I only wanted to bait you a little. Gee !!!
It doesn't matter to me what brands you use or don't use. If AIPAC has a gasoline brand you could use it for all I care.
But, in the spirit of comity, and as a small gesture of good will, taking up a point you made earlier above, I do plan to absent myself voluntarily for a brief period from this Board.
I see that the Day Of Atonement is fast approaching, and I know that my musings on anything ME-related is not taken by many of those with a favorable attitude toward Israel and all it's many wonderful works in the spirit in which I have generously offerred them. Not wanting to cause any more anger, disgust, distress etc... above and beyond my noraml quota during this holiest of days for the followers of Judiasm, I am taking off 7 days from this Board.
Effective dates are Saturday 1200 AM EST 093006 to Saturday 1200AM EST 100706.
Those missing my input are of course free to contact me by PM. I'm expecting tons of response.
No Doc, I'm expecting zero graditude and zero reciprocoty from you for this act. I do not expect you to do likewise for the week around Xmas. [Nor would i want you to]. Not that I would ever imagine you would, mind you.
So, try not to miss me too much while I'm gone. But we've still got what's left of Thursday and all Friday to play.
Ciao from Xiao.
BTW, what's the deal with that last paragraph? Are you moving to Canada with Zin or contemplating some other drastic action? Sleep on it a few days. Your tone kinda concerns me. It's not the omni-hostile Doc I've become accustomed to. That guy has spirit and is a fighter, but for mostly wrong causes. Still, it's something.
Its real simple Xiao...
and in order for you to find out how simple, all you need to do is read my post elsewhere concerning "enough is enough".
If a 7 day sabbatical from this board during Xmas would give you a sense of balance for your 7 day abstention during the jewish high holidays, i have no peoblem with that.... other than to remark on the irony of the Atheist referencing Christmas.
We get it Xiao. Israel is a very bad thing. Suicide bombers are not a very bad thing. Do you have a picture of Arafat up next to your Lindsay Lohan poster?
Can't you at least wait for something horrible to happen in that region before you post? Don't worry, I'm sure your wait won't be too long.
I always perferred Georges Habash myself to Arafat.
No LL posters. I've been making due with Brittney, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Ashanti, and Jessica Simpson. [I even had a Mandy Moore at one time, but splattered on it too much and had to 86 it.] Who said mulitculti deversity is ALL bad?
It's an open question if Israel is all bad -- but there's no doubt IMHO that US support of Israel is cataclysmically, catastrophicallly, disasterously [spellings?] bad for the US. And that's my basic point, no matter how much you choose to misunderstand it. But Bob Parr, that's your choice.
Sadly, I'm in total agreement with your last paragraph. I'd rather wait for something good -- like the conviction of the two AIPAC guys on trial for espionage. Now, thar's good!!!
if you want to fix it, what are YOU doing about it? Crying that *I* should do something about it?
Here's what we do: move all the troops in Iraq to Afghanistan, and run down that bearded goatfucker bin Laden and his posse, whereever they are, and convert them to compost. Once the Republicans are out of office, it should take about 3 months.
Meanwhile, in our absence, the Iranians, Sunnis, Shias, Kurds and Whey will all be cutting each other's throats in Iraq. We give the troops 90 days leave, which is about how long it will take for the various ragheads to get tired of killing each other.
Then we step back in and administer the coup de grâce. When we are through, there should be no bearded ones moving within a thousand miles of Basra, and all that sand will be much better composted.
Then we tell the UN, look, you want something done in Darfur, you do it. We're tired.
Then we all come home and play with the babies' momma.
Your job, Bob, will be driving lead truck in supply convoys. You should be able to handle that for a few months. If you aren't fast enough, we can keep a tracked vehicle behind you to keep you moving. At least you can be a minesweeper.
