What if . . . Monty Python ran the Department of Homeland Security?

A five-year-old gets detained by Homeland Security because his name is similar to a terrorist's alias.

Obviously it's the Bush administration's attempt to make bin Laden die laughing.

But the attempt at humor has bombed. . .

Zin, blame it on Bush if it makes you feel better, but the reality is that this is just another symptom of "more and bigger government" which the libbies keep demanding. It is the pseudo-liberal way; if he visibility is bad they just insist on shoving their heads farther up their asses, trying to get a clearer view.

As is typical of the conservative mind-set, the previous post paints a very simple, black/white picture of an issue that is incredibly complicated and multi-faceted.

I know I've used some big words here, but I bet even a conservative can use a dictionary.

How about a useful suggestion, like paying and training the screeners more.  Oh, wait, that would mean that we wouldn't be using one of Bush's buddies companies to underpay and abuse their employees.

Oh, well.

CLINTON GOT AS BLOW JOB!!!!! IT'S HIS FAULT!!!

HILLARY HAS TITS! IT'S HER FAULT!!!

BARAK OBAMA IS A BLACK MAN WITH A MUSLIM ARABIC MIDDLE NAME!!! IT'S HIS FAULT!!!

George W Bush had nothing to do with it.

Bill, I'm gonna have to take you for a very long ride on the trike once the new sound system is installed. Where we go, remains to be seen. Whether you're still on the trike when I get back or not, is the real question :P

I added some statements I thought made it funnier.  Why so defensive?

There is never any doubt as to your intentions, you mean every word you write.  You are about as sincere in your attempts at "humor" when it comes to Bush as Bill Maher.

Ah yes, they got hired and are paid, now if we just increase their pay by 2 or 3x maybe they will act like they have half a brain. Kind of like the whining teachers, "we really love our job and we are so dedicated to the kids so if you just double our pay and give us more time off we will have incentive to do actually teach."
Rockhead, you are typical of the pseudo-lib mindset, way too much impressed with your pathetic self. Try jerking off with the other hand for a while and see if it improves your sorry condition.

Ah, the great penurious conservative fear of over-paying those necessary for maintaining civilized society, i.e., teachers, cops, etc.  Gee whiz, why should the people who TEACH mYOUR CHILDREN be paid a living wage.

Great Idea.

. . . like Monty Python's "Joke Warfare" sketch.

Comedy is the world through a fun house mirror with a little cruelty. After reading and looking at the story, I wrote what came to mind-- if I thought it was funny.

Biased? Well, it came from my mind. But believe me, my attempt was comedy.

but it does get lost in your larger purpose of bashing Bush at every opportunity. Which just like Bill Maher is very "not funny". In your defense you are unabashed about your feelings for Bush, and you don't make your living as a "comedian".Thankfully

I have said that the administration is a lot better since Carl Rove left. Bush is more likable now. For me it's too late.

I bet there are audiences that would have found it funny.

To me, political humor is only funny when the comedian pokes fun at both sides. You, like Bill Maher only make fun of (bash) one side, then try to call it satire or comedy. It's not comedy, it's bashing the other side. Someone like Jon Stewart, who is almost as far left, and plays to a very left wing audience still manages to come off balanced (and funny. You,(and Bill Maher) just come off as Bush bashers.

Really, are you going to tell me that your not going to laugh at one joke because he doesn't tell another one next to balance it out? Let's extend this to other jokes. If I tell a joke about a man, do I then have to tell a joke about a woman? If I tell a joke about the rich, then is it not humorous if I don't follow it with a joke about the poor? If I talked about Bush's stumble-mouthed malaprops, do I have to find equivalent number of speech defects from Clinton? If I tell a chicken joke, does the next one have to be about ducks?

It sounds like-- The Fairness Doctrine, of course Republicans have privatized it, but ethically the same idea.

I already know that only some people share my sense of humor. If I could do what Jon Stewart does I'd be a professional comedian, right?

For the record, I think Bush's presidency is hasn't equaled the ribaldry of Clinton's blow job.  Just a few days ago, do you remember my "Move over Monica" post? That's a short memory. I will go the way my mind flows about it.

However, I'd say mostly that the Bush administration is no laughing matter. Like Waco, but it never stops.

When I'm in a good mood, I'll take whatever humor I can get, even if not everything is funny to me.

along the lines of the Rocky Horror Mountain show or vice versa Rocky Mountain Horror show?..I saw it once and that was enough for me but a lot of friends were repeat offenders..Not knocking it as I agree its art and art is appreciated differently by different people.

The difference between the lib's more & bigger govt, and the conservative's more & bigger govt is that the 1st is "for your own good", and the 2nd is, "serves you buggers right!"  IOW, libs are deluded, and cons are assholes.  Flat out assholes.  You're only different because you're also a drunk.   Frighteningly, some of them are not alcoholics.  I still wouldn't call them sober.

You are (amazingly) right, it's a function of bureaucracy.  But this bureaucracy was the result of the conservative's fear of their own shadows, that has us hiring illegals to check our shadows.

No shit, we have seen many arrests of illegals in renta-cop organizations at major public events.   If they want to protect us and put up with our paranoia, I say make them citizens.  It's that or therapy.

In fact I rarely have even a glass of wine. If I had to listen to a bunch of lying, whining pseudo-libs all the time I probably would get drunk. Fortunately I live in an isolted area. It is partly because of loud mouth, emptied headed bartenders like you that makes drinking undesirable.
