I may stand corrected...

The 69 page manual constantly referred to here on this board was not some specific publication put together by Obama and then graciously “given” to Trump after his inauguration. Rather, it is a document prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a guideline for suggested responses to various outbreaks. I took time to read every page of the entire document and have to say that In my opinion this administration pretty much followed the recommended protocols. I suggest that everyone take time to read it and draw your own conclusions rather than just keep referring to summaries provided by politically motivated groups. The link is listed below.

Unfortunately as we are learning, WHO is unreliable and probably controlled by China.

Taking anything the biggest liar on this board either literally or seriously.

So far at least though you have not made mistake number two, which would be having a "discussion" with the biggest liar on the board. lol

One thing I would like to point out regarding how the rest of the world is handling this, is it any coincidence that the Europe has by far the highest death rates in the world with the exception of Iran, and Europe has the health care model of socialized medicine that so many libs want us to adopt.

Here are some very sobering numbers. In the US we have 5 deaths from COVID per one million in population, in Europe we are looking at numbers as high as 151in Italy, THIRTY times higher than here, 106 in Spain, twenty one times higher than here, and most of the rest of Europe coming in with fatality rates of at least 5 or 6 times higher than our fatality rate here in the US.

Turns out that Italy always has super high death rates from seasonal flu.  I haven't seen the plausible explanation.

This interview demonstrates how China has a grip on WHO

One is that the population is older than most other countries and the older a nation is age wise, the more susceptible they are to succumbing to the disease.

Second, Italians, culturally, are VERY family oriented, as large gatherings every Sunday for dinner is the norm and they are more affectionate then other cultures, i.e. more hugging, kssing, etc.

You are NOT allowed to provide any context over the number of deaths. Just stick with the dumbass "But we have more cases/deaths than anybody!"

You see, that way, it can make things look FAR worse that they actually are. This is what CNN and MCNBC are doing, and you see Laffy echoing the same, dishonest, nonsense.

I thought libs were "pro-science?" you  might ask. Nah, not when they can bash Trump, for then the "science" is meaningless.

That brings up an interesting premise. If that is the case, then this board’s resident court jester who has been slamming Trump for not acting quickly enough in following the manual prepared by WHO and “given him by Obama” has to admit that he was wrong, and that Trump was right not to jump the gun. Can you even imagine that? LOL!

Glad to know the administration has “pretty much followed the recommended protocols.”

But I would have thought you impose the quarantine and then announce it.
Not that Trump understands the difference between a lock down, a shelter in place,  or an actual  quarantine but, whatever the hell he is talking about, that should be good to drive some percentage of likely sick people out of the tri-state area.

Hopefully we get the walk back before the market opens Monday and we get another 3000 point decline.

Amateur hour.

I am not going to kid you. It is TERRIBLE here. The fear is palpable, people walking out of your path like you are covered in donkey dung, and every fucker is paranoid as shit.

So while I am not opposed to more strict measures taken by the Feds, I do wish he would be a bit more descriptive in what he is actually saying.

A trial ballon through a press release or subordinate would have been nice, with at least SOME specifics of what he might have to do in the future, but him using a term like "quarantine" is very vague, a bit scary and not helpful.

But congrats on your recovery. Now go back and read EVERYTHING your boy has said because perhaps now you can get a clue about him.
Or not.

Not much happened since you left. You cant go see any sporting event, you can't go to the movies, restaurants/bars are closed and you can't even get laid. Even if you pay for it!

Oh, I forgot. That's just your normal pre-corona life I am describing so not much change for you. LMAO!

First of all the pandemic response playbook was in fact created by the Obama administration based on lessons learned from Ebola, Zika and a few other nasty bugs.  It relied on a number of sources including its work with WHO in combatting virulent disease.  It order to respond appropriately, it relies on early information from various sources on the ground including USAID, CDC and the NSA Pandemic Response team created by the Obama administration.

Trump failed miserably in all aspects in responding to this pandemic.  In 2018 he cut funding to USAID by 37% so billionaires could pay less in taxes.  He disbanded the NSA Pandemic response team because “he’s a businessman and doesn’t like people standing around not doing anything.”  So he fired the fire department because there weren’t any fires that day.  Now he proposes to cut funding to WHO - in the middle of a pandemic.

His reaction was extremely late.  He started doing something in phase 2b, long after the first US deaths had occurred.

Trump has been a total failure and a nightmare for America.  Unless of course you are a greedy pig millionaire with zero empathy for your fellow man.  People have heretofore always looked to the federal government for help in time like this.  Thanks to Trump that is no longer a reliable plan.

...on the origins of the document in question but I still feel that Trump acted appropriately with regard to the actions and the timeliness of those actions with regard to the Coronavirus outbreak. And I base that on the fact that after reading your post, I went back and re read the document- especially the part as to what actions should be taken when the threat is first identified.

How do we prepare ourselves for things of this nature? Some things are impossible to do. We can’t have vaccines in the ready against every microbe in the world since we can’t even identify which ones may or may not be harmful. We can’t have test kits stored and on hand since we wouldn’t know what we would have to be testing for. Do we have hundreds of thousands of ventilators and hospital beds set aside for possible emergencies? I could go on and on but as I have related in other threads, hindsight is always easy.

It’s obvious that we disagree on Trump. But as I have noted before, even though I am not an avid supporter of his, I don’t believe that he is responsible for every problem we face.

By the way, thanks for disagreeing in a civil manner. It’s nice not being called a shithead, a retard, etc. simply because we have different points of view.
