They are sacrificing memendez who has some serious charges to answer for, and is of course innocent until proven guilty. menendez is being sacrificed so the dumpocunts can say look here we go after our own and to keep this in the press in order to keep attention away from the decrepit old fuck biden and his fellow low life scum of the earth  and son cunter.

The evidence, including cash, a car and gold bars is potent. The Democratic Governor of NJ has called on Menendez to resign.

Isn’t it odd that the only people who have stashed of cash in their homes are people who work for the Mob, drug dealers and members of Congress? Quite frankly I’m confused how we don’t have all 535 members of Congress in jail for bribery. They call it “lobbying”, but I just don’t see the distinction. Regardless, there is a corruption epidemic in Washington, and unless you see dozens of Congressmen getting arrested, then you should assume it’s continuing unabated.

It used to be the American way to presume innocence until proven guilty -- at least as far as enacting any punishment.  We can all suspect or believe someone is guilty.  But we should continue to forego punishments until they are convicted.  I don't think Menendez should resign until convicted.  We're really in a bad place with this trend as it allows unscrupulous prosecutors (yeah, they aren't all saints) to destroy their political enemies even if they eventually fail to convict.

I read this hours ago, so I'm not remember all the details, but here's the gist of it. The NJ Gov (and others) DO accept the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" but the NJ Gov said that he feels that Menendez will not be able to effectively represent the people of NJ while under indictment and defending himself against the charges.

But on the subject ... Jack Smith prosecuted Menendez for corruption in 2017/2018.

(Stay with me, this bears on Menendez.) Previously, Jack Smith had prosecuted and convicted the former governor of Virginia, Robert McDonnell, a Republican. McDonnell appealed his case to the Supremes and his conviction was overturned. As explained in the commentary, SCOTUS basically changed the definition of public corruption and bribery to make it VERY difficult to prosecute and convict such cases. The FIRST Menendez trial was affected by that SCOTUS decision.

The first Menendez investigation and prosecution began under one set of rules but Menendez was able to argue a defense based on the "new" definition of bribery from the McDonnell case. The trial ended in a mistrial. (The commentary kind of said that SCOTUS basically legalized political bribery.)
