Why people elect "leaders" and then expect them to "follow" public opinion no matter how absurd it gets and try and make every group imaginable happy?

Don't leaders decide what's right and then "lead" people in that direct?

Or are we really just trying to elect "followers"

I'm not too worried about whether they follow public opinion or ignore it.  The real question is whether things are better by the leader's actions.  I expect the people involved to be able to freely judge whether they think things are better and be able to expression about that effectively.

I believe the US is for the people.  Although there is a large group of individuals who try to ``lead'' everyone else in the ``right'' direction - They are the religious right and (generally) Repugnicans.

If you want to be led I suggest joining a cult.

And please stop concerning yourself with wondering.

American's...they think solutions to problems just happen and look to everyone else but themselves to find that solutionI. it is the NATURE of the politician to be an idiot, their mediocrity is their biggest asset, and you think THEY will come up with a solution to anything, what a joke
