I did'nt think you'd see it Baloneyman. And it has everything to do with perspective.

I partially agree with you that Stewart's point was a dressing down of CNN because they air shows like CrapFire. CrapFire is CrapFire though because you have what Stewart thinks are 2 crapheads streaming crap to the public. That means Carlson AND Begala.

The "partisian hack" source you cite completely ignored his derision of Begala and instead focused on the schoolyard "you're a dick" quote. IN doing so you, and it, are acting out the very thing Stewart's REAL thrust was about.

As an aside, I was thinking about you and some of the exchanges we've had in the past today. Believe it or not, I like you. I think you're a decent, hardworking guy who's kinda pissed about some of the crap going on around him. Where we differ is perspective. I happen to think you've bit hard on the anti-Bush/pro-Kerry bait. That's a dangerous thing to do. I makes you see things that are'nt there.

I know, I've had my fair share of Bush Kool-aid. The effects have worn off enough to see that at least the King's clothes are'nt as advertized. I may still believe certain things to be true that later turn out to be false and I need to stand ready to reverse course when conscience dictates.

Blind allegience to Party, as spewed forth by Carlson AND BEGALA is what puts the Crap, in CrapFire.

Jon Stewart to Tucker Carlson: "You're a dick"

When the bookers got Jon Stewart to appear on CNN's Crossfire, they probably were expecting a funny Jon, not a testy one. But Stewart said what a lot of people had been waiting years to hear on the show -- someone calling it like it is. Stewart called Tucker Carlson "a dick."

Stewart also said:
------------------
that Crossfire is "hurting America."
"stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America."
that Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala are "hacks."
"what you do is partisan hackery."

Or how about this exchange:
--------------------------
STEWART: You know, the interesting thing... is, you have a responsibility to the public discourse, and you fail miserably.
CARLSON: You need to get a job at a journalism school, I think.
STEWART: You need to go to one.

Or this:
--------
CARLSON: OK, up next, Jon Stewart goes one on one with his fans...
STEWART: You know what's interesting, though? You're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show.

Stewart may not have made any friends, but at least he pointed to one of the worst problems in our political discourse. No, not that Tucker Carlson is a dick, but that creeps like him are in control of it.

As I read the ENTIRE transcript, it appears to me that Stewart is trying to make the point that BOTH participants of Crossfire engage in an idiotic discourse of partisan bickering and that that partisian bickering is destructive to America.

What BalonelyMAN did though, was to include a link from a partisan org and select and highlight the "Tucker Carlson is a dick" quote. In my estimation, that's the very type of partisian BS that Stewart was decrying in the first place.

Maybe that's not irony but it sure is funny....

he's a hero because he's one of the first to stand up to that lil’ shit Tucker Carlson though, guess you and I just don't see much of anything the same way Billkile, makes no never mind to me, but nothing I posted is ironic ? I guess you've never seen his show, but he will lambaste the absurd from either side, it's just rare that anyone is standing up and saying "Hey damn it, you're CNN we expect YOU to do NEWS and hold people accountable, not try to make light of situations, the public can tune into "The Daily Show" or "Real Time" for that, but what's sad is that "The Daily Show" and "Real Time" have done a better job of holding this administration accountable than the likes of CNN.

He had John Kerry on his show, had plenty of asskissing in this "interview", no hard questions at all, go read the transcript yourself.  hmm, I wonder who he's voting for.

and he said they were both partisan hacks. He's right they are, he said they have failed, they have. He said they are hurting the country, he's right they are. But one has to know they are not there to inform but to entertain. I have said before and say again cable TV news is to journalism as professional wrestling is to olympic wrestling.     Bob
