Back in my college and service days, when a guy needed the biggest bang for his buck, that is what I often drank. However, even then it was viewed as something mostly African-Americans bought vs. whites. I also ate watermelon, but when stationed in the South, it was stereo typed as African-American cuisine by many Southerns, hence the postcards depicting a watermelon patch at the White House. I was ridiculed by many a Southern service member for liking and eating it.
