UNFIT FOR COMMAND

I have read the book. It is one of the most devastating books of a presidential nominee I have ever read. This guy Kerry is a Fraud and a Liar!
Read the book. It has all kinds of footnotes, referencs,  and descriptions from hundreds of witnesses.  All these people cannot be lying.
I am afraid that when the republicans have their convention, It will contrast with the Democratic convention showing their forward looking, compassionate agenda as compared with the no substance democratic convention.
The demostraters will also show the true democratic face.
I predict that Bush will win in a landslide.

Here's your refutation, from no less than Joseph Galloway of the Knight-Rider Newspapers.

BTW, Galloway is the only reporter to have won the bronze star.

There was another story in the LA Times today by another swift boat commander who was involved in the action when Kerry won the Silver Star.  This is a first hand account by someone who was actually there.

I respect Galloway -- we have some mutual friends, and have exchanged e-mails -- but he has apparently bought into the fraudulent "If you weren't in the boat, you didn't serve with him" line.

That having been said, I'm uncomfortable with what the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth are doing.  At the same time, if Kerry wants to make his Vietnam service an issue, then there are those who are entitled to challenge his assertions.  He invited their criticisms, but can't take it when they're rendered.  One more victory for the Coalition of the Whining.

Furthermore, Kerry's new-found complaints about "527" groups are little more than principles of convenience.  Where were his complaints when pro-Kerry groups like MoveOn.org and others were bashing Bush?  And what about the connections between former Kerry campaign officials and various "527" groups?  The media isn't mentioning those, though pro-Kerry groups have spent far more than pro-Bush groups, and the connections are far more substantial.  Kerry only started complaining when the shoe was placed on his foot, demonstrating once again that he is a political opportunist of the highest order.  No principles at all.

But Bush is wrong to criticize independent expenditures, just as he was wrong to sign McCain-Feingold.  The only legitimate criticism against civil liberties violations by this Administration is the one that the far Left won't make: that McCain-Feingold is a violation of the First Amendment, perhaps the most serious infringement on free speech rights in the 200+ years of the Republic.

Mr.Bush, by failing to get out front on this issue and insure that the truth was being told, has to hope that the anti-Kerry Swiftboat vets are telling the truth.  More and more evidence is coming to light that key leaders of the group are not telling a factual account of events that led to Mr.Kerry's medals.  Many other signees of the original "affidavit" by the group could have very well been duped into signing it.
By failing to get out front on this issue, Mr.Bush will face a massive backlash when this "Swiftboat Vets for Truth" group gets finally sunk.  That backlash will call into question Mr.Bush's own integrity and I am afraid that the net consequences of that backlash will not be surmountable for him.

Bush is not allowed BY LAW to coordinate anything with the Swift Boat Veterans. They are an independent 527s and can not be associated with the Bush campaign in any fashion. Bush has no control over their content or what they release. despite what the left might think.

wow- I'd never thought I'd hears such gullibility here.  Do you fall for Agency ROBs?  It's me or it's free?   "I work alone"?

Perhaps the move to long pants was precipitous?  Can we get you some milk?  A cookie perhaps?

Karl Rove is hip fucking deep in this ploy to get the Dems to have to use their cash too early in the race.  Their fast catch up in funds freaked the Rovester out and he's pulled out this trick to try to keep his lead.

If you were in front of me, I'd have to give you a wedgie just for sounding like such total weenie on a board for playaz!!!

can we have rule that you have to be old enough to shave to grab a vine?

If you can prove it, step up to the plate. You would pretty much guarantee the election for Kerry.

If not, it's conspiracy theory and worth about what I flushed this morning.

We await your proof...

But of course, you would get confused by proper use of the english language, at this point I expect nothing else from you.
What I said was that by distancing himself from that group by making a public statement deriding their tactics, Mr.Bush would help himself politically.
He finally has come out and made a statement, but my guess was that it was made after his advisers warned him of a shift in polling data.  His coming out against the group's tactics at this point probaly creates skepticism in the minds of people who were marginally on his side.

Step 1 Wait for Beard to be visible
Step 2 Buy a clue
Step 3 Grab a vine

Remember:  Don't get into a war of wits if you are unarmed.

This is a friendly chide- time to lay off the milk and move on...  I know you are an adult- you claim to get come out of your willie.  But posts like that one belie belief...

For a second I thought you were being serious, and then realized that you were just funnin' us.

Thanks so much for the satiric humor - I was in need of a LOL!!

Accounts written at the time contradict all of these guys.  They are not all lying, but this is consistent with current scientific studies of memory.  And it's just hard for them to believe that a war protester could have been brave under fire.  Kerry was both.

Interesting how conservatives all have to point out that their books are "well-footnoted" sometime around the second sentence of plugging their books.  It's as though they're trying to pass Comp 1.  Look at those footnotes.  Question: do any of them refer to records kept at the time? Did you look that close?  Or did you take the word of another conservative that said it was "well-footnoted."

In the article Mr. ONeil virtually admits that he cribbed his information and footnotes from several other publications that are out concerning Mr.Kerry.  The problem is Mr.ONeil seems to have had a case of selective judgement as he was cribbing information.
This thing is really beginning to stink and Mr.Bush has to distance himself from it as quickly and as firmly as possible.

Am in the process of reading it, so will reserve judgment.

The most unfortunate thing about this controversy is the fact that it draws attention away from the fact that Kerry's Vietnam service --- even if he is being honest about it --- is the last and most significant contribution to American national security that he made.

Which still puts him way ahead of your boy!  Hell- he could be guilty of a string of 7-11 robberies and be a safer choice than GW!

Anyone who could squander the good will we had going after 9/11 and have us in worse hole 3 years later ought to be strung up, let alone elected to high office!

My "boy," as you call him, removed the Taliban from power in Afghanistan, and Saddam from power in Iraq.  Fifty million people have been freed
