In fact, BIll and Jill visited Joe at his home long before 1975. Bill suspected something was going on, but found out indirectly that Biden had been driving Jill's car (with Jill along) when it got into a fender bender. This news arrived to Bill through a mutual friend. Bill then asked Jill to leave. Joe and Jill eventually cooked up the lie about how they met for PR purposes. 45 years of lying.

You don't think the ex-husband is writing a book? He talks about it in the Daily Mail article. Even says how many pages are about the affair (vs the rest of the pages in his autobiography.) Nobody knows him. No one would read his biography. So he airs out the dirty laundry about Jill sleeping around while married. Most people actually approve of cheaters being outed. So it's going to be difficult to accuse the guy of violating privacy.

There is a three year discrepancy between when the ex says Jill met Joe and when Jill and Joe say they met. That's a lot of opportunities to catch them in a lie.

- Stevenson said he and his wife Jill both “got close” to Biden while working on his campaign in 1972.
- He also claims Jill and Joe have told people that they met on a blind date in 1975. Which directly contradicts a fact known to many people, ie Jill and her husband both worked on Biden’s campaign in 1972. Given this well-known fact, why would anyone with a modicum of brains claim that Jill and Joe first met in 1975? First date in 1975, sure. But the “blind” part makes no sense based on what Stevenson told the NYP.
- Joe is known to be a car nut. One very plausible explanation for his driving Jill’s Corvette is that Joe asked to drive Jill’s Corvette because... he wanted to drive a Corvette! That’s not a love affair, unless you count Joe’s love affair with cars.
Really, people.
After the car incident, Bill Stevenson asked Jill to leave, ending the marriage. Mighty strange behavior for just a car ride.

Just as it’s odd that Stevenson admitted he and Jill knew Biden well in 1972 (and many others must have known that too) and then claims there’s a story about a blind date in 1975. Doesn’t add up.
Maybe Bill is just a very jealous hothead who resents that the wife he ditched because of a car ride will probably be First Lady in January.

It was Stevenson's car. Joe and Jill were driving and there was a crash of another car. Sounds like it must have been Biden's fault because they told the driver of the other car to get an estimate. He did, but never heard back from Jill/Joe. That's why he tracked down the owner of the car, Bill Stevenson and confronted him about paying for the damages. That's how BIll learned about the lies Joe and Jill were telling.
