Eons ago, I used to work for the federal government, and whenever they needed to procure toilet paper and other supplies, they had to pay a ten times the retail price, because they were buying them from "disadvantaged" minority owned suppliers who charged whatever they want.  In fact, if you ever want to get rich, just marry a black woman and make her your business partner, and now your business is minority owned.  Then sell toilet paper to the federal government.  Considering the current state of our government administration, they are certain to need a lot of toilet paper these days anyway.  As for everybody else, Nancy Pelosi borrowed a line from Marie Antoinette when she said "let them eat dog food"

And no, we're not talking $50...4 guys making $20/hr is $80/hr. The way city workers roll this "job" will take them 4-5 hrs from set-up (notice the "safety bubble" of signs?) to finish. That's $360.

I get 1 guy to clean that fucking bridge real good for $100. $260 is what is "wasted" for this half of the day.

As an apologist FOR, and participant IN, this type of waste, I would'nt expect you to see it though.

that's not my understanding. My understanding is that a certain percent of bids can be taken by minority owned companies. I'm not certain what percent that is.

To me, that's besides the point.

My point is that inefficencies like this from cities on up need to rung out before government deserves another fucking dime.
