How does raising the voice

It's unfortunate Bob Woodward continues to act like a jackass. He is an idiot and lost his credibility long ago

Gene Sperling: "I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. I do understand your problems with a couple of our statements in the fall -- but feel on the other hand that you focus on a few specific trees that gives a very wrong perception of the forest. But perhaps we will just not see eye to eye here. But I do truly believe you should rethink your comment about saying saying that Potus asking for revenues is moving the goal post. I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim ... My apologies again for raising my voice on the call with you. Feel bad about that and truly apologize."

Woodward, who would later profess to be unnerved by Sperling's email, replied very calmly: You do not ever have to apologize to me. You get wound up because you are making your points and you believe them. This is all part of a serious discussion. I for one welcome a little heat; there should more given the importance. I also welcome your personal advice.

equate to "You will regret.."

All White House could have said, instead of threatening, was that your remarks will "embarrass" you

He loses credibility every day he opens his mouth. This Woodward temper tantrum has nothing to do with threats, he simply feels he has ZERO access in this WH administration, like he has had in all the other WH administrations.

It's unfortunate that Woodward doesn't seem to understand the difference between 'you will regret this' because we will harm you, and 'you will regret this', because it will make you look like an incandescent IDIOT.

Does one have to feel threatened, in order for that threat to be legitimate?

I heard from a reputable source,  Woodward claimed before the war , there was zero chance of Iraq not possessing weapons of mass destruction .
If he misled Bush about Iraq and WMD's , is there a possibility  he framed Nixon ?

The White House threat towards Woodward didn't look like a physical threat ,  from my perspective .

Now not only is the White House "moving the goal posts", but Chicago mafia is now threatening reporters for doing their jobs

Sequester-gate anybody?

calling people "lefty" and "righty"... Yes, sadly, we only have two realistic choices in our country, but that doesn't make everyone a left wingnut or a right wingnut..

Can't people be liberal on some issues and conservative on others?

when it is warranted. I haven't been all that much active on this board compared to other boards.

I'm not even in top 10 posters on this board..

Threat

1: an expression of intention to inflict evil, injury, or damage

will take advantage of the situation or not. The question is whether White House crossed the line or not..

And they sure did...

Were you asking, "Is it a threat if the person thinks it is"?

I think that's pretty dangerous.

Hell, I could be at a bar in Texas, say you "threatened" me, and shoot you.

Going by your definition, Woodward was NOT threatened as I didn't see any 'intention to inflict injury" from the guy.
evil, injury, or damage - Threats do not have to include physical violence.

This was the quote "you will regret doing this"

Regret

2: to be very sorry for -regrets his mistakes-

The White house, left their e-mail open to interpretation.

Question: Why does the bar have to be in Texas? (quite the sterotypical coment on your part)

Show me how the e-mail should be interpreted.

What does Texas law, have to do with what is and is not a threat?

Since you mentioned the death penalty, and we know it is not a deterrent of crime. We should abolish the prosecution of all criminal charges. Since jail time does not deter crime either.
