on the parts of both Republicans and Democrats.  It's just amusing to see the whining on the parts of the Bush-backers about it.

But it's not as much fun for Kerry-backers to have the Bush-backers realize too soon that their boy will lose in November.  
More fun if they realize it a little later.

Americans are none too bright in large groups.   We need to get out and get all the voters in line, or Bush will lose his way to another wierd back door win.  Remember how this whole thing started.  We haven't come close to winning until Kerry in placing his hand on a bible.

And if they try to pull that court shit again, I say we take it to the streets and get the popular vote winner placed in office the old fashioned way.  The reactionary guys here are just pikers who are bamboozled into beliveing the GOP crap.  The real cabal are really nasty peieces of work like the Dirty Digger with a visious agenda and they will stop at nothing.

Nice movie last night, about 4 months of Hanoi John's life, but what about his lackluster career in government, especially the Senate.

Now he's a hawk on defense, but his life belies this newly reconstructed Kerry.  His record will be revealed and his record will defeat him.  And of course Republican's will be called mud slingers for putting the spotlight on the real Hanoi John Kerry.  

The American people won't elect a long time Senator with a 100% rating from the most liberal causes in America.  Kerry is a leftist, his record proves it and that will send Kerry into the trash heap of history with Dukakis and Mondale.

Ultimately though, those of us who support President Bush really support him, the great majority of Kerry supporters are luke warm at best about him, its really more anti-Bush than pro-Kerry.  That negatism won't help the dems chances either, makes it a little harder to get out the vote when you have Lurch as your candidate.

As a Bush backer I'd like to take issue with a few things. First It would be easy to back Kerry as he has taken both sides of most issues, you can only guess what his real positions are. Second Tax the rich hasn't won an election in a generation and thats the sum of his campaign.The problem with tax the rich is the Dems always consider anyone with a job rich.  As to the Iraq war (I'm x-airforce myself)No one wants war but some times it's neccessary. We are going to be fighting radical Islam somewhere, and in the words of my grandfather (in reference to WW2) I'd much rather fight them over there. Look at all the impact 2 buildings destroyed had when it was fought here. Imagine a security concern such as Israel faces. No there is only one choice this fall and its obvious. Vote for the man who has the courage to do whats right, even when it's not the easy or popular choice. VIVA BUSH

I know the methodology of electing the President was devised a long time before 2000 and it's in the, what's that called??? Oh yeah, US Constitution. I know you've heard of it.

I just get a kick when folks selectively embrace it.

a) The class move would have been to see that the popular vote was the other way and concede defeat.  Hence the Re-Defeat Bush signs- we all know the EC system was designed to approximate the popular vote-NOTthe other way round.

b) Given the many anomalies, a re-count of parts or the whole of florida were warranted.  And not a burden on the country.  With no opposite power, the football can be controlled by both parties concurrently for a few weeks- we never have to use it.

c) didn't he though- I was depressed thinking it would be his usual dour demeanour.  Then he shone like a light.  Made me feel there might be some hope...

the power between the urban centers and at that time was the "productive, agrarian[sic?] rural areas. That the masses in the city would thru the popular vote, impose undue influence over the farmers on whom so much depended at the time.

It's being played out today and is what Alexander Tyler warned about when he said, "DEmocracies can survive until the masses realize ther ability to loot the public treasure and vote in the guy who promises the most" Or words to that effect.

That's why we see so much pandering going on. There is no fucking way Kerry can do everything he says he'll do. You know it, and I know it. It's also why GW and the GOP have abondonded in som part their conservative approach.

Votes go to the guy who promises the most....

On Kerry, the big thing I liked was his position on energy. Regardless of party, we MUST get away from oil.

I think most of us would rather have Lurch for President than Joey from Friends!

When a president gets into a uneccasary land war in asia(don't even need to fumble it like he did), and milk, beef, gas and housing prices are all at record highs- he's on shaky ground.  Toss in the culture campaign and you have a mixture that often leads to regime change.  When the total alienation of our allies is tossed onto the pile...

who like me are in that category would take exception, but the fact is that whatever term you want to use to describe people who make that much, they are in the very top of earners.

After seeing conservatives in control of all three branches of government, with the Bush administration as its crowning glory, a dyed in the wool liberal is suddenly very appealing to the American people. And they're not luke-warm.  Hot pink is suddenly in style.  I just don't think you know enthusiasm when you see it.  It has just been so long since liberals had it.

After some pessimism, I think now that the only way Bush will win is through more incompetence, or perhaps corruption, with the elections.  A few more Floridas this year?  Another ruling by the Supreme Court that since the vote can't be determined, George Bush inevitably wins?  

However, don't be surprised if the same charges of liberalism that sunk Dukakis don't buoy Kerry.  My perception is that conservatives are as mobilized as they could get now without getting violent, but that liberals have many more voters and participants they can mobilize and bring into the process. Of course, conservatives could always resort to violence, and they are much better armed, unfortunately.

So, what are you going to do if your boy loses, Bribite?  Join a militia?  Set up a conservative government in exile?  Say, in the Caribean. I'm sorry, has that already been done? It would make it easier to vacation, though.

As a person who has actually lived in Senator Kerry's state for a good part of his senate career, I have come to view him a progressive on issues such as healthcare and the environment.  His record on other issues is more moderate, those issues include defense.  As a moderate voter, I have often read Senator Kerry's vote on issues (our local paper actually publish the text of the issue being voted on so I know what he voted for) and am comfortable with the majority of his votes.
    I think that he can be less of a dork (riding a Harley onto stage on Jay Leno's show and climbing up on some big assed combine in Iowa, give me a break!!!), but everyone have their bad points.  Any discomfort that I have with Mr. Kerry is with his dorkiness.  Overall, I am ok with his voting record.

They must get it from their Mom, LOL.

Anyhow, I'm sure as hell going to vote for him.

I think he's been anesthetized by years in the Senate. The guy had some fire at one time.  He seems to be finding it again now.

It's the middle who will elect the next president and they will not get excited about Hanoi John.  That some Mass resident says "he is OK with Hanoi's voting record" (lower post) is very alarming to me...NOT!  He is a resident of the People Republic of Mass after all.  Actually I think Mass might be in play, since they continue to go for Republican Governors.

Zin, your childish "militia" comments are beneath your normal 'unastute' remarks.  As far as your violence remarks, how many cars have you seen with a Kerry bump sticker keyed?  You guys are the hatemongers, dividers and "keyor's" of cars!  And for the most part, they guys with their hands out, or is that in my pocket!
