He's not trying but I think he is toast. The drive-by media

would jump all over him if he got feisty.  McCain is the drive-by media's chained dog.  He can only be feisty against fellow Republicans.  If he goes after a dem,  he gets jumped.

Probably about the best one. Palin did well. In exactly the middle, her voice began to quaver, and she talked FAST, FAST, FASTER. I thought she was ready to crack. Then she put herself back together.

She did a great job, and it helped that expectations were low. On the issues she just kept hitting home, taxes, taxes, taxes. Joe scored a point when he pointed out her "windfall tax increase in Alaska.

Biden restrained himself. He couldn't be seen as attacking her. He ate her lunch on foreign policy. I was surprised he brought up the Bork affair.

She showed that she can learn fast.

It's a draw, but advantage Palin. Her being seen with her family at the end, holding the baby, that's an adventitious image. Carl Rove couldn't have done it better.

I would also call it a draw, but because of the low expectations on the part of Palin I would have to say a draw was better for her than for Biden.

Polls or not, it's still a contest.

Gov. Sarah Palin was obviously at another debate.  Answer the fucking questions.  Oh, that's right;  she can't.  No specifics, distorting the record, typical republican hypocracy.  She mocks Obama for voting a cetain way on bills, when McCain cast the same vote.  Isn't that truly amazing.  I think Alaska is about to ask for a recount.

If you were to read a transcript of the debate, Biden was clearly on top for 'technical content', but accounting for presence, delivery, passion and 'likeabiltiy' Palin won. She Zinged Biden and the Media pretty good a few times. Plus I couldn't see any gaffes or out right mistakes she made.

I have a feeling that Biden thinks Obama is a going to be a bad prez if elected and that he regrets signing on as the VP to the Obama ticket.

I could see it in his eyes at the end I tell ya.  Biden had to lie through his teeth.  Biden knows Obama is going to be a bad prez if he gets it!

the answer about the office of the VP.... and the duties...  From the constitution and by the numbers....

Article I, secton 2.
The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Additionally:
When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside (not the VP)

Article II Section 1
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice-President chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Amendment 12 -  as pres of the senate he has the duty of counting the votes....
Amendment 12 - Choosing the President, Vice-President. Ratified 6/15/1804. Note History The Electoral College

The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;

SO WHERE in the love of pete... are these "unspecified" powers of the office of the VP... I gotta say, Biden played that one "By the book" and Palin came off as very much in fantasy land... ya know, the "secret govenment" of and by the people of Cheney....  sheese....

Palin cleaned Biden's clock . All she had to do was hold her own .
Biden made a big mistake on the Articles of the Constitution Article I defines the role of the Legislative not Executive.:)

ART I defines the legislature if Palin had made that mistake y'all would be all over it .
ART II defines Executive .

Article I, sec. 3, clause 4 is the first time the Vice President is mentioned in the Constitution. It gives the Vice President an important role to play:

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

I agree it was not a big mistake except he is a Constitutional expert.

Article II does not extend to the VP any executive powers.


Aaron Burr a  was more dangerous VP then Cheney . I read a book about that duel not long ago :)

Holmes Alexander.  It's AWESOME.  You'll have to find it in the library because it was written in the 1920's.

Breaker,  I think McCain is dead.  He will not change by getting feisty and going after obama.  But if he did, the media would jump all over him.  It's really a no win for him.

Thanks for the book info .
The economy is sinking MAC  .Dick Morris says Obama  is peaking too early and MAC is still in it.
NRA and 527 will hit Obama hard in Penn and Ohio but MSM is in the tank for Obama .
People are scared and want  change so you may be right MAC is dead.I still think it will be very close either way.
