"McMurry on Friday said the blaze started in an area used as a "storage location" for "surplus construction materials," such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping, a material commonly used in construction. Gov. Nathan Deal suggested Thursday night that the PVC may have ignited for some reason".
There are a lot of OSHA regulations and guidelines for storing PVC materials. It will be interesting to see, if at all there is an inquiry, whether OSHA regulations and guidelines were followed. Now that EPA and OSHA are under attack from the Clown and his Administration, it will be even more interesting.
Is it safe to store these materials under a major Interstate near a big city like Atlanta?
this so why the hell should we keep them? Their job is to prevent stuff like this, not to show up after the fact and look for the guy who had the matches. FYI they also stored fertilizer and fuel under the bridge...a bomb makers basic tools.
State EPA comes first and it is their responsibility to do State inspections to ensure Federal laws are obeyed. Georgia is a RED Republican State, do not like, write or enforce any regulations.
States do have environmental regulatory agencies responsible for water quality, chemical usage on farms etc. That said, the federal EPA can and often does trumps state law and agencies. Why do you think everyone was is so adamant about EPA reform and pullback? And do you truly think federal agencies aren't responsible for construction etc on federal highways? I85 is federal you know? Maybe the state was involved. Regardless the Feds have the final say and ultimate control.
BTW whatever happened to the $1T spent on "shovel ready" jobs 7 years ago? Where'd that money wind up?
You really are TSTTT. Do you ever wonder why your fellow libs never jump in to support you? Not even MacDiaper. Go figure.
1. Don't enforce the health and safety rules. 2. Let the violators do whatever they want until ... 3. See what blows up, burns down or crumbles first. 4. Spend 4 years passing pork barrel legislation to rebuild the destroyed structures.
How can homeless people have access to construction materials, hazardous materials and other combustibles stored under a major interstate near a major city? Was the place secured or anyone could walk in and start a fire. The latter seems to be true.
They probably live there. Homeless people often live under the highway, and panhandle by the exit ramps, they are a nuisance, and it is dangerous for them and the motorists too. I always thought it was a liberal problem, and now they have burned down the interstate.
