In one scenario, over the next ~2 months, Trump pardons family and friends and anyone who makes a big donation to his PAC. As Jan 20, 2021 approaches, Trump resigns (or temporarily steps aside under the 25th Amendment) and Pence becomes POTUS for a few hours for the sole purpose of pardoning Trump.

Will Pence agree to cooperate and actually pardon Trump?  
Will Pence pretend to agree, become POTUS for a few hours, but then refuse to issue the Trump pardon?  
Will Pence refuse to go along with the plan leaving Trump as POTUS until 12 noon on Jan 20?

I'm ambivalent. I mostly see Pence as a manipulable spineless weakling who would surely play along and pardon Trump. On the other hand, I can almost see Pence take over as POTUS, get struck by lightning or have a holy vision and not issue the pardon, as agreed. I guess I have to go with "WILL pardon."

Pence has almost no future as a Presidential candidate but if he screws him he has no future at all.

not only to get pardoned from any Federal crimes he may have committed, but to mess with Biden by making anything about “46” moot.

But he cannot  pardon him from any future federal crime Trump might commit.
Of course the same is true about any current and future state crimes.

....and he will do what he is asked ....

First, I wanted to point out that when Ford pardoned Nixon, it was conditional.

There is NO WAY that Pence will ask for such any sort of admission from Trump. Trump is INCAPABLE of admitting to any error or taking any responsibility.

Then, the Ford pardon was limited to crimes committed during Nixon's tenure as POTUS. It did not cover anything BEFORE or AFTER his time in office.  "Now, THEREFORE, I, GERALD R. FORD, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in ***during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9,1974.***"

There should be NO PARDON from federal crimes committed as a private citizen before or after serving as POTUS. Which brings us to the other thread about investigations and prosecutions of Trump after Jan 20, 2021. I want to see and hear Trump testify as a witness, UNDER OATH, before Congressional investigative committees. Every other sentence Trump utters will be perjury and lying to Congress will be a new, punishable offense.  I want to see and hear Trump testify in federal courts as a witness. Let me emphasize: initially NOT as a defendant in any given case, thanks to a Pence pardon, but as a WITNESS. Perjury, perjury, contempt of court, perjury, ... and just charge Trump with NEW crimes (post-POTUS), lying under oath.
