Perry is starting to "walk back" from decisions he's made. Being miss informed, or not doing enough research is his strategy. It worked for Bush regarding Iraq. Perhaps Obama should try it! Whaddaya think? This follows with my prediction I made to Inicky that like Reagan being the "Teflon President," Perry will follow suit. Not because of policy, or ideology, but pure image! Yep, it will come down to Perry against Romney, and Perry has a very good chance of winning. ;)

Oh, and did you notice, out of the gang of 12 (Super-committee, or Super-congress, how many women or people of color are on it from the Republican side, verses the Democratic side! ;)

I had no idea that he had ever done anything as praiseworthy as taking on his bible thumping base by signing that order in the first place.

Perry has an excellent chance of garnering the nomination, and I have a very good chance of simply sitting out the 2012 election.

and yes I know you meant this to be a slam against Perry, I actually consider it a positive though, it proves that he can indeed "do the right thing" even when it goes against his bible thumping roots. Alas it's still too little too late to change my opinion of yet another bible thumping GOP candidate.

politics as usual, regarding having certain positions as a governor, then changing them to run for a party's nominee for president, then changing them once again if nominated for president. I think it all boils down to image rather than substance, and Perry has the image advantage over the other Republican candidates. You know the old litmus test: "Who would you rather sit down and have a beer with." Just my opinion, but I'd guess it would be Perry over Bachmann or Romney. I do think the conservatives should be alarmed by Perry's lean toward big and over-reaching government, which his policy toward HPV demonstrates.

only the stupid people thought it was anything different.

Well actually McCain was different, he started off in the middle during the primaries and for some unknown reason went hard to the right during the GE, and we all saw how well that worked out for him. I can't imagine a worse run campaign.

I dislike Perry for much different reasons, He is just another religious kook, just a very polished one. He reminds me of the Hollywood version of a slimy, overly religious, political candidate. He just oozes slime IMO

Not really such a good way to pick a Prez.

which was really my point.  Besides, I don't even like beer much.  But I bet I could trade shots of vodka with Bush or Gore and drink them both under the table.

I think you've either not been paying attention or are willfully in denial.

Gitmo, Patriot Act, Bush tax cuts for the rich, single payer system, solving the debt and deficit, gay marriage, willy, can ya help me with the rest?

Obama is the King of the Walk back. Besides, Perry needs to be walking back off hard core bible thumpery.

No doubt the media will certainly embark on disecting everything any repub candidate has ever said or done especially those they think have a good shot at becoming the nominee.  No doubt some of the findings may reveal a certain amount of back peddling.  But, so what?  We've already seen first hand what Obama has done.  We already seen his widespread lies.  We've already seen his politics as usual and some would argue his movement of politics into areas far worse than we've ever seen before.  So, could it possibly get any worse with Perry or Bachman?  I submit that the likelihood of it getting worse with more of Obama is far greater than any of the challengers.
