what’s happened to the “Grand Old Party” in the past 4 years. Before Trump showed up, patriotism and respect for the Constitution seemed important to most Republicans. Now it’s as you said: it’s all about power and further enriching the rich, and trying to limit voting to only like-minded people.

 
Of course, if any Democratic administration tried to commit any of Trump’s abuses, every Republican would be screaming bloody murder about it.  A few are speaking up, but in too few numbers to matter (and it’s mostly people who won’t be running again for office).

enough Republicans stood up for the Constitution that Nixon saw he was toast and resigned.  It’s gone downhill since then.

 
I agree though that the emergence of the far right wing media like Limbaugh has accelerated the decline of the Republican Party’s former values.  They greased the skids for Trumpism.  That, and the fact that many right wingers couldn’t stand the idea of a black President (and now a black/Indian VP Elect) and wanted to do whatever it takes, including running roughshod over the Constitution, to make sure that never happens again.

Unfortunately and sadly, Trump-XYZ Party will replace GOP! But it will be short lived! One can only prosper so far purely on divisive tactics.

Today’s GOP, as you are summarizing, has no conservative ideology left:
1. No efficient market (no trade protectionism to tariffs)
2. No deficit to now all deficit  
3. Free and fair election- No more if they have their ways
4. Freedom of speech- no more unless you agree with Trump.  
5. Democratic Republic to Autocratic Kingdom  
6. Pro-life only when it comes to unborn babies
7. Individual responsibility, moral character and integrity to rampant corruption at every level  
8. US the world leader to US the world loner
