I've just caught up reading the posts in this forum from yesterday.
I have a question for all of you... right, left, lib, con, DEM, GOP, Jew, Gentile, Atheist....
What in the World is wrong with all of you? Are we lacking in diapers in here? Or have you all just gotten so completely wrapped up in your self-righteousness you've forgotten we are all supposed to be ADULTS!
I have been as guilty as any of you, at one time, perhaps even more so. But my excuse was a rabid animal named funtime69, a scumbag so odious he even made Anne Coulter palatable. I've tried to change my ways. I really have. But this forum has become totally dysfunctional. It reminds me of one of my family gatherings. I don't go to those anymore either.
And to think this is supposed to be an ADULT board. I've seen more maturity at a daycare center.
Ok... Let the Flames begin, and further validate my point.
I fear some of us here, deprived of this outlet, would be abusing the SO, battering the kiddies, kicking the crap out of the dog and/or the cat, engaging in road rage incidents, or otherwise on the verge of totally losing it and going postal in a srious way. So maybe, for all it's faults, this IS the lesser of several evils? It could be a lot worse. And trying to ID the aliases can be amusing.

You must be a mind reader. I has written "and it's fun to check the reltive progress of Jack0 and BSD re the frequency of their posting" but deleted it for fear it might be misunderstood as a criticism. I employ a few aliaes meself, so I feel I'm in no position to get hot and botheed over the use of an alias. anyway, some of them are very amusing [the aliases themselves, very rarely the thoughts behind them].
Every partisan here, and the vast majority of the rest of us are guilty too. the Bush haters, and the koolaid drinkers are the biggest offenders, but there's plenty of blame to go around.
As usual, I don't have a solution, just pointing out some rather obvious facts. This can be a rather unpleasant place to be at times.In the current environment, I doubt that we will be attracting any new "civil" posters any time soon.
Of late, this board has spiraled out of control. It would be nice if we could heed the advice and try tempering the pointless posts that just involve name calling and HUGE generalizations about the right and left. I'm guilty too, but I have to say the board is less enjoyable when you have 10 posts that just go back and forth calling each side bigots and nuts.
I eagerly anticipate the first flame.

with an affirmative action program: nobody gets to post more than once a day, (so that the 'tards can keep up and don't get their feelings hurt), and most importantly, nobody gets their feelings hurt.
One way this could be done is to force anybody who graduated from high school to take my continuing prescriptions for medical marijuana. That would of course increase the boards' popularity, and probably make more money from TER than subscriptions.
But I think the much better way to do this is just ban any posts that haven't been copied from the Selected Writings of Rush Limbaugh.

I even found myself this week stooping to the lower levels, when I told jack0 to FU.
But it's inevitable when there is any human interaction where both or more parties do not share at least one common goal. I'm not talking goal of outcome, but reasons for participating in the first place. I do this to prevent Alzheimer’s, literally. It exercises my brain. It also challenges my ideology and beliefs, always a good method for growth. So when it becomes clear to me that responses directed my way are intended solely for the amusement of the writer, I just ignore it and move on. I gave up pointless drunkard bar talk years ago. Dealing with ideologs that at first seem sincere but then twist my words is another story. If they continue to seem sincere I’ll try to hang in awhile, but usually they aren’t and have no desire to actually converse.
My best and simple suggestion for “some” control would be for some method to restrict multiple aliases in the same thread. I follow this rule. Very recently “one of us” used at least 4 different aliases to reference the same topic (in two different threads).

I don't know, there are times where it seems like a lot more than 4 aliases are being used in one thread. When new aliases repeatedly pop up in the same thread, which happens a lot lately, it seems like one person is pretty much having a conversation with himself and then jumping on whomever takes the bait with a new alias.
1st, this place was created to be a lightning rod to draw the insane shit from the main board. That's ALL it has to do.
2nd, we have had PROLONGED um discussions in the last week over the bigotry of George Soros et al in contributing to Moveon; and over how Al Gore is going to ruin the hobby by raising the price of gas to $7. Modern neurology does not have adequate understanding to deal with that.
The continuing big problem is the complaints of people whose feelings are always being hurt, because they "can't keep up" and are always crying that the solution is to dumb things down to their level, maybe around 2nd or 3rd grade, I think.
Hell this place used to be MODERATED by an adamant Jesus guy who explained his unique theology, of Jesus as instant fire insurance, and locked out people who laughed at him. Men seem to have a need to yammer about politics, but not religion. This fellow just had to add religion, making it even worse.
Doc, you don't understand. This place *belongs* to the guys lurking in the corners of the asylum. That's why TER sent them here. People who can write a coherent sentence need to either (a) ignore them, or (b) move along.

Sure there are occasional dialogs that enlighten the opposing point of view, and for that, I relish the reading of this forum.
But they are few and far between, lost amongst the detritus of the bickering and name calling.
And so I get up on my soapbox and rant and rave and go all Fear & Loathing... and now that I have brought a moment's attention to this issue, my work here is over. I'm done.

he has made some good points that are sadly read by eyes that ignore a call to responsible behaviour.
1st, it's a good first step to admit that what you write is "insane shit."
2nd, writing incoherently much of the time and then claiming people that can't understand are at a 2nd or 3rd grade level is a strange conclusion, but so be it.
there are about 4 topics on this board that drive me insane... and on two of those topics I have provided direct quotes from bona fide expertise sources... only to be called names.
on the other two topics, they are matters of political and legal position... and there I am called a racist - even though racism has nothing whatsoever to do with my position.
and so, I get a little upset over that.
one final thing that gets me going...
There are a couple of posters who fail to think for themselves, and seldom post anything other than a parroting of the position of others... and those individuals only detract from the discussion...

Right now I read posters who have "names" or the aliases who are known to make good points.
For Jack0, I'm thinking that his multiple rapid-fire posts caused his readership to fall, so he has tried to bolster it through use of aliases.
I have noticed that there are some new names on the top 10 posters. Names that haven't appeared in the forum.
BTW, if providers post here, I could see why they would use aliases, as their political points of view might negatively effect business.

Yeah, I don't understand how does Jack0 do it -- his name magically compels many to click on and read, post after post after post. Even when they totally disagree with him. What's the deal with that? Wish i had devoted readership like that!

many is the time when I feel a bit down, only to turn to the P&R board on TER and read a Jack0 string of replys to himself... really - ya can't make this stuff up! where else.... as I have said, we are a weird little subset of the population... dudes in their 40s 50s and 60s who consider the ladies our hobby, when in reality we do enjoy our fun on the P&R board - more than most would want to admit....
