BREAKING: Senator Diane Feinstein Dead

I really wished she’d stepped down before passing away, and I didn’t have a very high opinion of her, but from serving on San Francisco’s city council, navigating two assassinations there at the time to serving as a US Senator, she dedicated her life to public service. RIP.

Happy recently opined that he would like to see Barbara Boxer appointed as the interim replacement.

He said a black woman so I dunno and I hate to see him tip the scale and put in Barbara Lee
Newsom has consistently said, as recently as a few weeks ago on Meet The Press, that he will limit his choices to Black women, but exclude women who are running for the seat in the 2024 election.

The question then is, who does he appoint? I don’t see the mayors of LA or San Francisco resigning there positions to take a temporary seat.  So who’s on Newsom’s short list? How soon can we expect an appointment to be made?

Upgrade Maxine Waters (85 yo) from the House to the Senate and appoint a replacement to the House!

Was Waters planning to run for the House in '24? ... retire? Would Waters take the promotion and use it to promote her policy positions (with more exposure than the MIA Feinstein in her last days)? Is Waters the "swan song" type?

Could Waters take the Senate seat but then re-run for her vacated House seat in '24?  
.
And move around the pieces as much as you want to see if it forms a reasonable picture.

I'll leave it to the local CAns to debate whether or not Waters is the type to accept the promotion and use it well and NOT RUN TO KEEP THE SENATE SEAT.

Thanks for the comment. I know Waters only from the nationally broadcast news snippets and she can be very outspoken and provocative on some issues. I hope that other CAans (CDL, et al.) might butt in, I mean, add their comments on a possible Senator Waters.

My image comment  was meant to read "(Yeah, the image is a jigsaw puzzle of the LIBRARY of Congress, **NOT** the US Congress = House + Senate. YOU find such an image to post.)" My brain talks a lot faster then I can type it all down.  I was asking if anybody can find a photo of a jigsaw puzzle of the US Congress or House Chamber or Senate Chamber. Since I could not, I had to go with the LoC puzzle.

Does anybody know if Waters is the kind of person to tell Newsom to go fuck himself and appoint Barbara Lee? Hmm, Lee is 77 yo. If serving as temporary incumbent helps her get elected, she would then serve as a 78 yo to 84 yo Senator. ... "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Aunt Esther was a character on Sanford and Son.  Fred Sanford hated her and always commented on how ugly she was.
