I am not on the defense because I am not a smoker, nor ever have been, but as long as they continue with the bullseye on the tobacco industry, I wonder what the cost to society from the automobile industry is or the pornography industry (or candy, fast food, cell phone, etc)
There are two other facts missing. 1) There should be a huge deduction for all the money that never gets paid out by social security to those that die before retirement age. 2) Health care expenses shouldn't be added in. Or at least a deduction should be made that equals the average "cost of dieing". EVERYBODY dies from something. To alloccate the total cost of a smokers death to this is intelectually dishonest.
