and I do believe she is a problem solver that would like to insure another ponzi banking scheme will ever happen again. But the capitalist in me, cannot grasp $22 an hr min wage. I would either have to close my doors or pass the cost to the consumer. I would love to be able to pay everyone that, but if I can't afford or someone is not worth that for the job being paid... They why should I give everything away, when I took the risks? I had the ideas? Does she understand that it's not my fault that people are working for taxes and insurance and can barely buy the necessities of groceries and gas?
I would love to see her dig a little deeper at the Federal Reserve. I am watching....
But honestly, we have come too far to repeal The Federal Reserve Act of 1913. Its just not going to happen.
I also don't really agree with the idea of Federal minimum wage. Here is a novel concept.. Give states the right to set their own minimum wage.. Also raising the minimum wage like that robs the people of incentive to work hard and go to school, get a better education.. If you want better pay, here is another novel idea.. "Get some skills and get a better job..." If you are working at McDonald's as a cashier, try to become a Supervisor, and then see if you can become Regional Manager.. A lot of people have done it..
And for cryin' out loud, Ms Warren... Eat a little healthier... No. 11...Really?
I am really worried for the next generation, how terribly difficult its going to be for them. That only the best and those with a drive, are going to make it. I am concerned that my daughter has quaddrippled as many jobs as I have had in my lifetime, because she has no work ethics. It is not like it was when I was young, where if you weren't happy you could leave and have another job by the end of the day. This whole generation has no work ethics and are not even trainable. I pay my help a lot more than min wage, and I pay 40+ age double because he gives an honest days work. When he is no longer with me, I will hire Mexicans.
They will just have to learn from the school of hard knocks. Like I learned..
I was hired as an intern at 21 by a very small start up - my first desk job. I had a lousy work ethic when it came to my job. While they let me finish my internship, the boss fired me the very next day. That was the first and the last time I got fired from any job.
Every job since then, that I have left, has been because I found a better opportunity, and every time I left I was told that if I ever changed my mind and wanted to come back I would be hired as long as there was an open position... To me that's priceless..
I don't know how old your daughter is, but I agree with you that this generation does have issues with good work ethic. Too many distractions..probably...
Dear Madison: Although you can raise the minimum wage to say 10 dollars an hour, would their salary reviews and raises be equivalent to the cost of living and would there be anything mandatory to ensure that the number that they would receive would still be enough to meet their immediate needs. The question is how feasible is it going to be to receive the post secondary training which is critical to raising their standard of living? Although the book has some political and social connotations to it, I am wondering if you had read Tavis Smiley and Cornell West book the poor and the rest of us. It really shows you that even the most qualified are having a hard time of it. So although that is a start with respect to the question of raising the minimum wage, what policies are they going to put in place to ensure that they can still have a certain standard of living if they are unskilled and uneducated.
but I don't think I have ever hired anyone for the very first job. It's like they all have a little bit of ADD. and not that I am interested in medicated zombies (I love individualism) or am I a slave driver. You get a cigar, its too many distractions. I tried the approach the schools are now taking, and allowing cell phones and trying to teach them time management of reading on break and lunch. And I am a compassionate employer, even though every employee that I have had, has screwed me over when the employee/employer relation is over. I have even had one that got addicted to percocets, and I went above and beyound his protection under a medical leave. but I found this gentlemen help, for a sliding fee. And he chose to quit and try to get unemployment instead. He actually tried to get me to fire him. And then you have the ones like my daughter, that are so spoiled. And I didn't do it, her grandparents and father are wealthy and had a very heavy hand is her raising. She has no idea the value of a dollar. She has no problem with calling out sick on her first day of work, claiming a stumped toe. I worry that she is so spoiled that she will never be self-sufficient. And yeah, she will probably just throw me in a nursing home one day. LOL
And I linked an article I found while researching this that claims they are "self-centered"
