Defunding Police Departments

Even claiming to defund a police department is something that by definition alone, alarms me.  Proponents of defunding any police department must be playing a game of semantics.

“Reform” police departments are words that liberals and conservatives can come together on and find compromise.

“Defund” moves the argument to the extreme left, and makes compromise impossible.

I dont want to fund racist that's  killing my people either. They would have to  prove that they can clean up police units around  the country , ridding  them of kkk,Trump worshipping Cock sucking cops.

The Dims just can't seem to help themselves, I will admit it really looked like they had Trump on the rocks over the last couple of days, they managed to take a murder by one white cop that might even turn out not to be about race at all and make it all about Trump. As far as a great political move, dishonest as it was, I will still tip my cap for how effective it was.

But can the Dims be happy with success? Of course not, they have to push the envelope so fucking far that even you and LTM are asking yourselves "WHAT THE FUCK???!!!" and so far at least Dementia Joe hasn't shown any sign of pulling back from the abyss. He hasn't actually jumped off the cliff of common sense quite yet, but he is teetering on the edge. Poor Joe is fucked here, He has to appease the nut job faction of his party if he doesn't they won't show up in November, but he can't totally sell out to those nut jobs lest the not totally insane Democrats start abandoning him. Poor Joe. lol

...how did something SO retarded that even Laffy thinks is stupid, manage to make it to mainstream liberal Democratic circles SO fast????

Outside of draft dodgers, and maybe ISIS sympathizer Boobsman, does anyone think this is a good idea?

I know what Plagiarist Joe will say:

"If you aint be for defunding the police, you aint black!"   LMAO!

a mild dose of objectivity.  Are you even remotely capable of that?

If you truly do know any police officers, you understand that homelessness and often those with mental illness divert the attention of police officers away from their normal duties.  Maybe it would be a good idea to quantify, by number of police hours (which are the most basic form of determining manpower standards) how much attention is going to these two areas.

One of the biggest irritants of policemen/women is they are not qualified/trained to deal with these two categories of problems.  Well is there a logical way of diverting this workload away from police departments?  If so, how would we do this?  How would that equate to hours saved, converted into funding for these two social problems.  Maybe there are other categories as well.  Not professing to be the expert here, I really do not know.

Am only guessing what could possibly be on the minds of those who propose.  But unlike you, am not planning on running around like my hair is on fire or blasting something as completely foolish, without opening my mind first and giving it some thought.

Might not be possible at all.  Most human beings are uncomfortable with change and this is BIG change.  But what if it is possible and what if it could be done in a way that would take a lot of pressure off of our officers?

way over Jack's head.  He has no idea how to process anything even remotely, resembling, thought-provoking dialogue.

Either that or he really does not know anyone on the police force.

my post?  I'm not feeling it.  Care to translate into nonpartisan, non-hidden agenda, language?

I hope every police officer in San Fran. LA, NYC, Denver, Seattle, Portland and any other Democrat run city goes on strike or resigns in the morning. Let America see what the far left can do to destroy their city. They voted for that crap now pay the price ! And CNN ad MSNBC, CBS,NBC,ABC see what they helped cause with the lies they spread.

without any idea what this would even involve, is par for the course.  That is why most of Trump's followers lack a college education, they simply do not know any better.

As long as it is hateful, does not make any sense, and provides a platform for division, obviously you would be for it.  At some point you will realize we are all Americans, and everything is not always just about hate.

If you were lying in the road injured, even though you are one closed minded, stupid, mother fucker, someone like me who could see you for the dipshit that you are, would still render aid/assistance to you.  Why not come out from under your stupidity, once in a while?

"Defund the police" is a slogan that no one can support at it's face meaning.  That's how it has been engineered.  It gives everyone cover, since they can "wokesplain" it to you, and then blather about whatever they think it means.  If you object, you are racist.  If you are silent, you are racist.   No two liberals have to agree on the same meaning, but they are virtuous for advocating it.  Virtue signaling is the most important goal -- as well as silencing the non-virtuous.

proving any of this makes sense, lies with those who are suggesting it.  Let's see how this plays out.  If it is sheer stupidity, all of us, united as Americans will stand against it.

On the other hand, if it has merit, and is good for our police officers, who have a very difficult job, as it is, then it deserves some discussion.

This may be a good time to kick partisan rhetoric to the curb.

But some of the people in the streets getting air time from the media are indeed calling for the complete dismantling of entire police departments. Let's see if the actual proposals from the people with the power to make actually enact the changes are more in touch with reality that a few loud mouths who managed to grab a microphone for five minutes or so.

Obviously dismantling an entire police force without a serious plan on with what to replace it is beyond stupid. Let's hope no elected officials even come close to any such proposals.

This is what the Minneapolis City Council President said from the CNN link I put up yesterday:

"The idea of having no police department is certainly not in the short term," she added.

"Short term????"

They are clearly planning on doing away with the department there which is insanity. All of this because of BLM nut jobs. They are caving to activists rather than doing what is best for the community.

the streets" are doing anything more than, expressing their frustration and getting their 5 minutes of fame.  They are after all, human.

Having said that, have a pretty strong feeling they have no idea what "defunding" their police department means.  We both know, these same people would be the ones dialing 911, when they need a police officer to respond.

Clearly, they are not thinking straight.

CNN's CAMEROTA: "What if in the middle of the night my home is broken into. Who do I call?"

Minneapolis City Council President BENDER: "Yes, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors. And I know — and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege."

of thinking on his feet and had a mental lapse there for a moment, or he is totally stupid.  "A place of privilege?"  That was one stupid statement.

But we can be sure, Lester, many are scratching their heads, wondering what exactly is the point of the call to "defund the police," semantics aside?

but "defunding"? Stupid idea and idiotic choice of words. Even Minneapolis' use of the term "dismantling" the PD sits ill with me.

Sometimes refocus and improvement takes an investment.

I’m not for abolishing law enforcement.  I am for social and community based reforms that obviate the need for police departments to be quasi military forces.  That is more budget rebalancing than out and our defunding and that is exactly what LA s Mayor and others are talking about.  When you can’t tell a cop car from a tank, there’s a problem in this country.  When the cops are issued Sub machine guns as their standard patrol car weapons, there is a problem.

I think we need to fight to get to a place where that is no longer needed.   When people in south central no longer have the despair and desperation that extreme poverty brings, we won’t need those heavy guns in every cop car, will we.
