I could but I think that article is very thought-provoking. IMHO, it's very important to continually question ourselves and our motivations. Fascism is such an attractive wolf in sheep's clothing at first that well-meaning people can easily get caught up in something they don't understand and soon can't control. Happens on the right and the left, certainly, but, since there is no real left in the U.S., the danger appears to me to be from the doctrinaire right.

Just look around you, the lefties outnumber the righties by a significant margin around here at least. Just because the left is incapable of winning an election, no matter how gift wrapped it is offered up to them doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I had a blast the other night too. We'll have to do it again soon.

Exactly. No real left. A true left wing politician would be advocating things like the nationalization of large corporations, free access to education through grad school, direct federal support for labor unions, a top marginal income tax bracket of 100%, etc. The positions that right wingers think are leftist are really just moderate/centrist. They seem leftist to many exactly because there is no left in the U.S. If there were, it'd be easy to see that Obama and Hillary are moderates and Bush/Cheney are the extremist whackos.

The right has won the war of labels, though and I guess should be applauded for their propaganda success.

I read enough to recognize it as too much bullshit. Oh sure, there were some cogent remarks about recognizing fascism, but there were also huge distortions of the record in order to justify some of the parts that were drivel and psychobabble. So I decided not to clutter my mind any further.

I prefer to focus on wisdom rather than knowledge. The most important thing for me is to be able to recognize what I do not know. If I choose to fill the void, then it’s a call I make, not you.

to be able to discern what to read in the first place and not waste your time filling your brain with trash than it does to read whatever piece of shit someone puts before you and "challenges you" to read it. I don't know who the fuck you think you are but until you've poroven something of substance to me....pffft.

I run one business and am building another. I have a family and am taxi and handyman for my elderly parents...so i choose my nonsense wisely.

Your claim of being frugal with your time, seems rather disingenuous to me, but I (who obviously has way too much time on his hands) did read the better part of the article and I didn't find anything worth discussing for the umpteenth time.

Insightful or really fucking funny??? Yeah I wish that even a tenth of the drivel that passes for political commentary around here could pass that standard.
