durran421: "2 so far...Omar will be 3 for sure." ROFLMAO!!!

So this is pretty funny. Congressional primaries are still going on. Tomorrow Minnesota has a primary vote and there are a few people running against Omar for the nomination. The major candidate is Don Samuels.

Omar’s biggest problem is that Minnesota has an open primary. And now there’s a push among AIPAC and Laura Loomer to get as many Republicans as possible out to the polls to vote her out of office.

Loomer estimates that if just 5000 Republicans vote for Samuels, then Omar will be out of office.

I kinda detest this kind of thing. Each party should be able to freely vote for their preferred candidate without interference. But there are issues with both registering voters for a particular party and open primaries. I can’t think of a good way to prevent this sort of thing, but I gotta say it’s funny when it happens to someone like Omar who shouldn’t even be in this country.

I can’t remember how many Squad members have already been booted. Two or three I think. But adding Omar to the list would be pretty sweet.

One of the most fervent members of the jihad squad would go.

She's spending big on YouTube ads. I'm in her coverage zone but not in her district. She has tons of ads on YouTube. It's been close to 100% coverage on every video I watch.

Really you can’t? Is primaries within party not the good way? Seems pretty obvious to me. No party should be able to dox the other. That can result in both candidates not being who the party really wants. Makes no sense.

Parties can have their own record keeping but I disagree with allowing the state to have the power of policing party membership.
.
Democrats loved the idea when they were crossing over in open primary states to vote for Nikki Haley.

There’s a lot of reasons why someone might not want to register with a political party. What if someone suspects if they do register the other party in power won’t count their vote? What if say you’re more of a Libertarian than a Republican and so you’re an independent, should you not vote in the Republican primary? Same if you support the Green party. Shouldn’t you still get to vote in the Democrat primary?

I don’t like this sort of thing in principle, but like I said I don’t see a good solution.

No one said anything about controlling what party one chooses. I said vote within your party. Choose whatever the heck you want. If someone wants to cross over the choose their opposite part than so be it. They are choosing to vote for the opponents side though. It’s one or the other. You can’t do both.

I’m fine with them voting in the Democratic party. But it should be one or the other. They shouldn’t get to vote on both sides. You get one primary vote. Choose to either use it for the Democratic primary or the Republican primary.

I’m also fine with Independents not voting in a primary. I don’t have a strong opinion on it being one or the other or neither. Just not both.

Omar will be 3 for sure. People are getting fed up with radicals in office. AOC will be the last to go but that will still be a while I guess. Which is unfortunate.

Her district has a zillion Somalis. I was at a citizenship ceremony in Minneapolis about 15 years ago and the crowd of hundreds was mostly Somalis.

…but Virginia has an open primary. Both both GOP and Dem primaries are held the same day. You just ask for one of the other ballots and that way no one can vote in both primaries.

Let's hope common sense will prevail and she will lose her seat once and for all.

Yeah, so the only modification I would make is that if you declare a party, you should then not be able to vote for the other primary. If you don't declare, that's different. I see nothing wrong with people being open to both parties and therefore having a choice at the primary so as long as it's one or the other. But if you register Republican, you should only be able to vote in the Republican primary. Same as if you register Democrat. And, you can change parties and choose to unaffiliate with a party as long as it's within a reasonable deadline and not when you show up to vote.

Something like 45% of Democrats wanted someone else.  Pretty bad for an incumbent.

The polls in Minnesota closed at 8pm central. I can’t tell you how many races I’ve seen where as soon as the polls close some of the totals start to come in. But by 8:30 none of the vote had been counted. None. My 9pm still NONE of the vote had been counted. An hour and 22 minutes after the polls closed finally 5% of the vote had come in. And then just 15 minutes later 99.5% of the vote had been counted. But it gets weirder. At the same moment that Omar’s district had reached a 99.5% count

District 1 had a 40% count
District 2 had a 63% count
District 3 had a 0% count (uncontested race)
District 4 had a 18% count
District 6 had a 39% count
District 7 had a 40% count
District 8 had a 63% count.

Yep, she wants zero aid for Israel, doesn’t recognize its right to exist.  But let’s not miss any opportunity to own the conservatives. Maybe Trump had a point when it comes to Jewish Democrats.

They need to have their heads examined

CKS175 is jealous of Lester and willy.  They're fucking liars and he wants to be a fucking liar too.  That's why he didn't provide a link for his bullshit claim that Omar "...wants zero aid for Israel, doesn’t recognize its right to exist."  He knew it was a fucking lie.

In February 2023, Omar signed a resolution recognizing Israel as America’s legitimate and democratic ally and condemning antisemitism.

I don't know the SOP of those precincts / districts or whatever they are called, but there is a difference between COUNTING and REPORTING.  It is possible to count and record votes but not release or report the numbers simultaneously.
.
If you are or anyone is suspicious of the timing, ask for details from the election officials in those locations. If they can't explain the sudden jump in REPORTED votes, you can ask for other investigations according to your local or state laws.
