The UK Guardian which was also quoted by Free Republic said, specifically about Reagan's comment, that "the experts say the trees alone are not the problem. The real villain is the motor car. Trees soak up carbon dioxide, and respire oxygen, doing far more good than harm", and, "he (Reagan) was partially right".  Ronnie was just spouting off some factoid he got hold of, no genius at work here.

This is the same man who tried to get ketchup classified as a vegetable.

Let's keep a perspective on this, please.

1. Iran/Contra

2. Massive budget deficts started under his Presidency.

3. '83 Beirut bombing massacre where almost 400
Marines died. RR turns tail & evacuates armed forces, which emboldens asshole terrorists like UBL to strike against U.S. interests.

4. Economic policies which caused great gap between rich & the rest of the country.

To be fair, I've thought every POTUS since LBJ has been a failure in one aspect or another. Last good POTUS, IMO, was Dwight Eisenhower, who I consider most underrated 20th century POTUS.

when light is present plants take in CO2 and release O2 during Photosynthesis. At night, they take in O2 and release CO2. Underwater plants actually require about 13 ppm of CO2, while it's only about 3-4 ppm in the air.

Regardless, it doesn't mean that Reagan wasn't a moron. By the way, trees actually absorb pollution (CO2 isn't pollution). Without them producing the O2 that they do, we would all sufficate and die.

Speaking of which, an acre of marijuana produces 4 times more O2 than an acre of trees. After all, they grow like weeds.
