I have read somewhere that laws that exist today trying to crack down on prostitution are based on mostly old false estimates and grossly misleading assumptions that are related to human trafficking, under age, etc.  In fact, majority in the business appear to have no pimp... and ladies on these boards are more or less self-employed. Vast majority are older than 18.

It is mindboggling just how much tax payer money $$$$ and resources the government wastes per year running their futile operations. The ladies aren't going away and neither are the hobbyists. Let's not forget that it looks like the majority were neither trafficked nor are underage.  

Why not just hire a well reviewed provider and chill out, mr.sheriff?
Actually , nevermind you guys are already hobbying in another town. ;)

that helps them show that they are cracking down on sex trade and appeal to the voters. If they stop doing that and make the prostitution legal, they would lose those votes. If people would stop caring for these issues, the government will stop wasting tax payer dollars.

As much as some things change, other things will always stay the same.  IMO, archaic negative attitudes and stereotypes toward providers and hobbyists will never go away, at least in my lifetime.   There are too many people such as overly zealous LE, the religious right, and the misinformed who will never be open to new ideas or the truth about the vast majority of "good" people seeking the pleasure of a mutually respectful sexual experience.

Our neighbors, Canada, have made it legal. Even though the law surrounding it is somewhat complicated as to what you can, and what you can't do. Entire Western Europe has one or other legal form of prostitution. Australia and NZ have it legalized. Even developing countries like India have red light districts. All these countries also must be having some form of conservative right wing groups. It can't be that we are the long ones who have it.

So why then, in one of the most advanced democracies in the World, America is prostitution looked down upon by government and the people. It baffles me...

The rest of the world is on metric units, we are on English units that the English abandoned.

The rest of the world teaches evolution in schools, we have private schools teaching creationism.

The rest of theworld accepts the science surrounding global warming, here we have the last outpost for global warming deniers.

Places with better education (below university level) reward teachers on the basis of superior performance, we reward (usually) on the basis of seniority.

Politically, both major parties pander to the delusions of their constituencies.

We used to be ahead of the game in being realistic and practical. In the last thirty years we have given that up in favor of ideological "head in the sand" denial of what is real and works.

This probably belongs on P&R.

The power of the religious right (god hates prostitution) mixed with 'do-gooder' left (it stigmatizes womyn - intentional PC spelling).  Why this shit is more prevalent here than elsewhere is also a mystery to me.  I blame it on fundamentalist religion having too much of a stronghold on rural communities that vote.  Taken in full numbers with their urban thumper friends, they outweigh those people like us with functioning brains that challenge the status quo with common sense.  Welcome to America: A modern country with backwards-ass values.

A lot those government officals, and LE's who fight so hard to stop this hobby, actually hobby themselves. I've heard stories where provders in ceratin cities have a large number of police officers come to see them then your normal joe, but yet that departments vice unit tries to prevent stop escorting that area.

It's been shown time and time again, people who fight so hard to try and stop certain sexual practices are actually dealing it themselves. LOL! If providers in the DC area were to speak out they'd tell how you many of these so called good christian married polticans go to see them on a regular, but then put up a big front.
