"Top Conservative Voice Slams Pentagon Pete’s ‘Kill Everyone’ Orders" . . .
.
A top conservative voice has torched Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “kill everybody” command as “at best, a war crime” in a blistering piece for a right-wing outlet.
.
If this happened as described in the [Washington] Post report, it was, at best, a war crime under federal law,” conservative commentator Andrew C. McCarthy wrote in the right-wing magazine National Review. “I say ‘at best’ because, as regular readers know, I believe the attacks on these suspected drug boats — without congressional authorization, under circumstances in which the boat operators pose no military threat to the United States, and given that narcotics trafficking is defined in federal law as a crime rather than as terrorist activity, much less an act of war — are lawless and therefore that the killings are not legitimate under the law or armed conflict.”
.
Todd Huntley, a former military lawyer, told The Washington Post that the attack “amounts to murder,” because Venezuela and the U.S. are not in an armed conflict.
.
The order to kill everyone on board “would in essence be an order to show no quarter, which would be a war crime,” he said.

"Japanese soldiers and officers were tried and executed for the murder of American and Allied sailors/airmen who were in the water or were shipwrecked survivors during World War II. These actions were considered war crimes, as international law (specifically the Hague Convention of 1907) bans the killing of shipwrecked survivors under any circumstances." - Gemini AI
From the Times:
"A top Republican and Democrats in Congress suggested on Sunday that American military officials might have committed a war crime in President Trump’s offensive against boats in the Caribbean after a news report said that during one such attack, a follow-up strike was ordered to kill survivors.
The remarks came in response to a Washington Post report on Friday that said that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had given a verbal order to kill everyone aboard boats suspected of smuggling drugs, and that this led a military commander to carry out a second strike to kill those who had initially survived an attack in early September.
“Obviously if that occurred, that would be very serious, and I agree that that would be an illegal act,” Representative Mike Turner, Republican of Ohio and a former chairman of the Intelligence Committee, said on “Face the Nation” on CBS.
Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia, said on CBS that if the report was accurate, the attack “rises to the level of a war crime.” And on CNN, when asked if he believed a second strike to kill survivors constituted a war crime, Senator Mark Kelly, Democrat of Arizona, answered, “It seems to.”
The lawmakers’ comments came after top Republicans and Democrats on the two congressional committees overseeing the Pentagon vowed over the weekend to increase their scrutiny of U.S. boat strikes in the Caribbean after the report. Mr. Turner said the article had only sharpened lawmakers’ already grave questions about the operation.
“There are very serious concerns in Congress about the attacks on the so-called drug boats down in the Caribbean and the Pacific, and the legal justification that’s been provided,” he said. “But this is completely outside of anything that’s been discussed with Congress, and there is an ongoing investigation.”
The investigations by both the House and Senate Armed Services Committees are the sharpest scrutiny to date by Congress of Mr. Trump’s escalating military offensive, undertaken without congressional approval or consultation, which he says is aimed at taking out drug traffickers.
They constitute a notable step by Republican lawmakers who have spent much of the year deferring to Mr. Trump and refraining from exercising oversight of his actions.
Senators Roger Wicker of Mississippi, the Republican chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the committee’s top Democrat, said on Friday night that they had “directed inquiries” to the Defense Department.......Mr. Turner’s comments and the moves by Mr. Wicker and Mr. Rogers suggested that Republicans, too, were increasingly concerned about the scope and legality of the operations...."
This must be fully investigated, at least by Congress, and not covered up. If the evidence supports a crime, he must be impeached, convicted, and removed from his position. However, I can't imagine Bondi taking any criminal action against Hegseth. Trump will pardon Hegseth long before any criminal investigation takes place anyway. Remember, we are dealing with the most corrupt administration in the history of the nation.
It is coming out that a general/commander acted on his own. The general was possibly returning fire.
Hegseth is trying to save his own ass by throwing the admiral under the bus. Hegseth told Fox the day after the murder that he watched the strike as it happen in real time. He was the top official in the room and the responsibility is 100% his. He's lying his are off right now and the testimony of others in the room will sink him. He's as good as gone.
you paint the picture of "clinging to wreckage" and what not. You know that having guns strapped to your person can happen, the "wreckage" can have weapons on it, etc.
But yeah.... as more facts keep coming out. It is proving that this didn't come from Hegseth, the Admiral did give the orders, it isn't a "war crime", murder, etc.
People are so focused on wanting to paint anything this administration does as BAD they ignore things. They want to say "threw Admiral under the bus"..... Hegseth stands behind him. That isn't throwing under the bus. That is backing the judgement call by the person under him.
So who gave the admiral the order? It was Hegseth. Hegseth was the senior official in the room during the attack so he shoulders responsibility for the decision. Of course now the lying weasel says he was out of the room for the second strike. Maybe Hegseth told the admiral to kill them all and walked out. Let's see what the evidence shows and hear the testimony of the others present.
Correct.... His story does keep changing.
But the Admiral didn't need an "order" to double tap. It is left up to the commander of the mission if they deem it is necessary. These have been done to take out target's prior for years. Even done during the Obama administration. They were also scrutinized under the Obama administration as well. I for one am perfectly fine with doing them. A non-moving target can't hurt US soldiers or property.
If the admiral gave the order, he committed a criminal act. So did everyone down the chain of command who carried out the order.
If anyone UP the chain of command gave the order (Trump, Hegseth), they also committed criminal acts. We won't find out tomorrow because the admiral will be talking behind closed doors only with the four leaders of the House and Senate.

....God knows when you spell avocado wrong, they're going to come after you hard, lol. Perhaps the orders were to put the cargo on the ocean floor? Just spitballing, drugs make up a substantial part of the Venezuelan economy and when they're not getting shit for their oil, Trump is hitting them where it hurts the most.
BINGO..... sink the ship could have been the command.
The left is so hell bent on finding anything and everything on Trump or this administration it is ridiculous.
Just find it hilarious that they keep trying to insult me and my IQ... keeps proving the stereotype correct. I also like how they want to ASSUME things. Play the "if" game. Remember in the past same types of orders were given out and no "war crimes" or "murder charges" were given. Granted the stuff was scrutinized by both parties. Just like this should be as well. But this time it seems one side is more hell bent when it was drug runners being killed compared to US citizens.
Put you thinking cap on for just a moment. The two survivors just got blown the hell out of their boat and were in the water, clinging to the wreckage and likely injured. How is it they are able to grab and aim a handheld weapon at an overhead target, most likely a drone?
As someone said earlier, Hegseth threw the admiral under the bus because he was probably there. And you're quite right it was almost certainly a drone doing the shooting.
This article points to Hegseth's version. Maybe the "Times" says differently but they've been more wrong than right over the last 10 years with anything Trump related.
"Cool" link at the bottom of the article...more traffic deaths because of an unqualified illegal alien was given a fraudulent CDL and jackknifed a rig killing two newlyweds. I've got a cousin who drove truck for 25 years that just forced out of the cab because is diabetes is getting harder to control.

Another FUBAR post by SNAFUBAR.
Where in the link does it say the driver was "unqualified" to drive a big rig?
Where in the link does it say his license was "fraudulent"? Did he not pass his DL test?
Fucking moron.
The Washington post is treading very close to defamation here…
A former JAG officer and of all things the NYT are debunking these claims.
You expect anyone to watch the whole thing? Why don't you give the time of the video in which it states the "kill everyone order" was a "falsehood?" Fucking moron!
