Just curious, boom or bust? Specific stocks or mutual funds? I moved a lot into treasuries. Just wondering what others are doing. The past four years have been great as far as wealth building. Thinking of pulling the plug and retiring; Vietnam and Thailand are looking pretty good. Vietnam is shut down, but when things are opening up, going to call it a day.
What is your portfolio looking like this year?Oil companies, full stop.
My entire portfolio now, as of last week is just Apple, Exxon, and Shell.
Won’t bore you all with an entire novel but PM me if you want to talk about it.
Incredible setup for oil prices in the next few years.
Exxon paying 7% dividend at current price of $50 while we wait for a return to fair value, which will probably be sometime next year.
to walk back Trump's accomplishments of energy independence for the US, not to mention killing hundreds of thousands of jobs in the energy sector, we will be paying inflated prices to overseas suppliers once again. I think oil is a good move., but I won't be going quite all-in like you. Lol
As Biden sells out America to foreign interests, I will be playing some currencies in the beneficiary countries as their economies profit from Biden's policies while the dollar is pressed downward. Its not a move for conservative investors, but I have been playing currencies since I worked in South America for awhile in the late 1980's. There's money to be made internationally during Biden's "leadership." I intend to profit from it.
Maybe you should just buying gun stock Trump boot licker. I guess once an idiot always an idiot. I really hate ignorance in the Trump supporters. Good riddance to the hate.
over to the politics board. You make yourself look like the village idiot here. You're out of your league. The thread is about investments under the new president. I just gave my reasons why oil would be a good play this year. If you think presidential policy has no effect on the investment market, you are a moron. Some people put their money some place besides a piggy bank, sonny. Go read something and try to get smarter.
I'll shoot you a PM. I have Exxon and XOP. As a side note f**k stockbrokers and firms. I learned long ago to heed my own advice and ask others their thoughts to get perspective. I bought XOP too soon, but can't really time the market. It will go up over the long term.

I would've thought oil is (quickly) becoming one of the world's most significant stranded assets.
I am too lazy to look up the exact number but approximately 50 MILLION Barrels of oil each day is used for purposes other than making gasoline.
If every car on the planet were converted to run off of something other than gas, we would still need BILLIONS and BILLIONS of barrels for other purposes.
Hey GaGa this should help your cause. Here’s a PARTIAL list of products made from oil. One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline.
Here are some of the ways oil is used in our every day lives. All plastic is made from oil and plastic is used almost everywhere: in cars, houses, toys, computers and clothing. Asphalt used in road construction is a oil product as is the synthetic rubber in the tires. Paraffin wax comes from oil, as do fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, detergents, phonograph records, photographic film, furniture, packaging materials, surfboards, paints, and artificial fibers used in clothing, upholstery, and carpet backing. But, as shown here oil is not just used for fuel.
The top crude oil producing states are: Texas, Alaska, California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. About 59.5 percent of the crude oil and petroleum products used in the United States come from other countries

wall of words with no punctuation like I'm sure many others have is NOT a response. Spelling it out with "ZZZ's" is a condescension.
I'm fit and trim, but you have already admitted to be just a fat guy from Tallahassee. When was the last time you saw your dick without a mirror. Bwahahahahaha
I end with a fat guy from someplace different a lot.
You. Are. An. Idiot.
You’re tiresome.
Waste of energy.
No more response to idiots.

no punctuation to a period between each word. Is English your second language? If it is, I'll give you a pass for not being able to write at a third-grade level. That would also explain a lot of other things about your posts.

I had forgotten about that aspect of oil when sunny mentioned his positioning.
Yes, without oil you can pretty much kiss both plastics AND pharma goodbye. In fact, that might actually be a bigger reason to think moving towards renewable energy sources and away from hydrocarbons is good than the whole global warming view.

Sounds great.
It was written in July and is already proven to be full of shit.
Not to mention, it has to do with the Canadian oil sands which are "barely" profitable at $80 bbl. Canadian oil sands are hardly indicative of the oil business in general.
Oil sands now, Permian in five years. Whattya think, Tex?
The Permian is a MUCH better play than the Oil Sands of Canada which is a marginal activity even during the best of times. The "oil" in the sands is dirty, nasty, hard to crack and is expensive as fuck to produce.
Actually I think you have it backwards regarding West Texas, I think they are going to take a hit NOW, not in five years, but in five years after the US sees our domestic production fall by fifty percent under the new administration, I see the Permian "coming back" after oil prices rebound sufficiently to make it profitable. I think the near term prospects for the Permian are nowhere near so rosy.
The one thing for sure about the oil business is that until somebody comes up with something to replace it, and NONE of our current technologies are even close, the business will continue to be a "boom bust" industry, Yes there WILL be another oil boom, and yes there WILL be another oil bust. It's simply the nature of the beast.
"Pure plays" in the US, not so much as the Dems start squeezing domestic oil companies with all the old regulations that Trump tore up along with thousands of pages of new ones. This will kill companies in West Texas, N Dakota and the SCOOP and STACK plays in OK, but it will succeed in driving up oil prices for everyone still able to produce.
It is a shame that our domestic production is likely to fall by several million BOPD, what with Beijing Biden "normalizing" trade relations with China we could have been in the position to "make China our Bitch" just like the Saudis did to us in years past by making China dependent on all the US oil that we have been awash in. It would have brought in Billions of dollars to the US, helping to balance our trade deficit and it would have made China as dependent on us as we have been on them for the last many years. Oh well.
I have to admit I am looking forward to the next few years being in the oil business, getting filthy rich personally will make watching the country in general going down the wrong path a little easier to take. OK, it will make it a LOT easier to take lol For the record, NO ONE felt sorry for me on the several occasions I almost went broke during the various "oil busts", so don't be haters when I make a few bucks. lol
Gag, you worked in the oil industry? That's sick! In what capacity? PM me if you like. I'm a total dork for oil and petroleum now. I was up till 2am reading about drilling fluids the other night.

You are asking on here? I suggest my new fintech company. Pussybyte. Blockchain securities based on the value of pussy and assholes of top escorts. The more anal sex they get the more my coin will be worth.
You never know what you might learn if you don't ask. Also, where else are we going? If guys can drop a minimum of $300 an hour to $600 plus, I think its worth asking as there is some sort of wealth - or they're broke ass like some folks on here, who shall go unnamed. But you can see their $60 quarter hour review sessions. I'm definitely not taking advice from them! Unless I need to know where to buy some cheap crack.
Read up on these for entertainment purposes of course.
Certainly will preserve the capital if you hold to maturity -- and you don't mention what durations (assume you made some type of ladder if that is where you're leaving it) you're putting you $ in. However, I would think rates will be higher in the future so don't see much in the way of capital appreciation there.
Also, if you're thinking of retiring, and particularly outside the USA, you might not want all your wealth in US dollars as I suspect the current trend is for a lower dollar, not a stronger one. At the very least have dollar denominated assets that are inversely correlated with the USA dollar and inflation (though I am not sure that will be a big problem).
I won't need to touch the principle. I've run the numbers. The issue is health. If I'm healthy, I'm good. If I have a severe disability (think wheel chair or bed bound), then I'm fucked and not in a good way. One can hope to marry a girl who is going to take care of you (estranged from kids), but that's a roll of the loaded dice.
I have a diverse portfolio, just weighted a bit too much on the risky side. Let's just say I'm not invested in marijuana stocks or bitcoin.
Yes - TER is a subsidiary of Match.com. I thought that everybody knew that.
That makes more sense -- life cycle allocation type move and not just moving most of your assets into treasuries. Though, if you can generate the income you need off really low rates...
Given you don't expect to need to touch the principle I would probably look to putting some into dividend stocks/preferred stocks rather than fixed income now -- just bigger returns and a lot of pretty sound, well managed businesses. And while some real estate might be a bit problematic just now, generally RE long term does pretty well. If you are thinking in that direction at all you might check out Fundrise if you've never looked into them before.
Glad you've run the numbers. I bet you really know what you're doing!!
Give your dictionary a run, too - "principle" and "principal".
Oh look who is back my personal stalker, but under yet another new clever user name. Wonder how long before you get TO'd again.
You've got more stalkers than me again. Lol
Don't be jealous, its the same one with multiple handles. Fortunately I can put this name on ignore because its not an alias. Crazy people in this world. I can't even imagine what providers have to put up with!
You've got more stalkers than me again. Lol
Did you get your dictionary down from your shelf? I mean, c'mon man, learn some words.
I'd be wary of any large cash holding what with the stimulus inflation on the horizon.
If I had listened to my broker back in about ‘95 when he said buy the S&P Index, my hobby budget would be 5X or 10X what it is now! That would be my advice; buy, hold, reinvest!
You would have done almost twice as well.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda, if, is no way to go through life. If you really want to second guess yourself, can you even imagine if you had put all your money in a company like APPLE twenty five years ago, or Bitcoin even just a few short years ago?
double down on EV and all associated industry like Lithium battery, hydrogen maker etc
If you’re looking at longer time, put money in space companies. There is an etf in the planning.
Put some money in AI companies.
Come back in a few years and be richer ...
Oh ... oil will go sideways not much money to be made!
NOONE listens to you!
You prove you're stupid every time you open your pie hole
I know you don’t have enough to retire... we need penny less hard hats like you to supervise oil workers! Keep digging baby ... watch a 20 year old retire before you and then blame the Dems for your misfortune!! ROR !!!!!
I can buy and sell you in an hour, boy
Your momma a LOT quicker
Back to Daddy's basement with you!
That says more about my momma than you punk! Now, isn't this time for you to report back to your homeless center so you get your own place on the floor and don't have to sell your ass to CDL?
your momma
she's wearing her cot out for pop bottles
I like many millions don't have enough to retire. I think I will go somewhere and live under a coconut tree in the warm weather. I was always less than a hard hat, maybe I was the oil worker. What's so funny about that? At least I worked for it and didn't ask for handouts on the street. Not that I've been offended or anything, I'm just saying. I don't blame anybody but maybe myself. But aren't most people workers anyway?
Yeah, maybe I've been offended a little.
No politician cares about the worker, not even Kameltoe Harris. LOL I just had to say Kameltoe for the first time here.
Now for some fun and music. I'm not bitter. But that how you play us.
