“And the Republicans don’t see it, and they just tear it apart because they have no perspective of caring about African-Americans or caring about people getting together and anything nice that happens. It’s a tough sport, and they play it tough.”

Since 2007, Cohen has done NADA for the Black people of Memphis. If this was the case, there would be Black Voices saying this for him. Bye Steve

that came out of the Victoria Brink DNA test; once it was proven that she was not his daughter, he could continue having sex with her without it being a scandal.

I wasn't going to mention that. But… I think the DNA test was forged. But I'm a conspiracy theorist..

How did he win a seat held by Harold Ford Sr & Harold Ford Jr. for 32 years?

That was against the Ford family. I'm FROM Memphis. I wouldn't exactly Call it a forward thinking…

Harold Ford Jr. didn't run again in 2007 because he ran for senator.  Otherwise, he'd probably still be the Congressman and be out this year because of redistricting.

BTW, do you remember the racy and racist ad Republicans ran against Harold Ford Jr. with a seemingly nude woman?

It's been 20 years!!! How do YOU remember that?

But that still doesn't make Cohen the Civil Rights leader he's CRYING about being today.

...formal Congressional resolution apologizing for slavery and Jim Crow.  And that was in his first term.

Cohen also cosponsored H.R. 40, which would create a commission to study and develop a proposal for reparations for African Americans.

pointing out past glories.  Biden was proud of his racist background as a Senator, but said he was a new man when running for President, yet he continued to make racist remarks throughout his presidency. His mentor in the Senate, Robert Byrd, Grand Huzzah of the clan, was dead by then.

Memphis is gonna get alot shit for "nada"...If anything, just for principle.

for any former slave who is still living, but that does not count submissive women who were my sex slaves but didn't charge me.

Yeah. There will never be reparations. So, "forming a committee" doesn't sway me. Can we at least be a part of history?!?!!

It's not just slavery but the decades of repression that followed it. Segregation, theft of property, lynchings, economic discrimination, employment discrimination, redlining. So to my mind it's not even a question but that reparations are called for. The question is how to do it equitably?

And what about people that got their freedom at certain times what about Black people that immigrated to America at different times it would just be way too complicated to try to give reparations at this time however we can focus on fixing our social structures so that everything is merit base and not color basd.

Dictated as I'm cooking.

was subject to discrimination.  And if they emigrated that's no excuse to deny justice to the descendants of enslaved people. But I agree it's complicated.
Dictated as I'm beating off. :)

Most "committees" (and we have had them in California) that take up the issue reparations have, as their criteria, that applicants for reparation funds must be able to trace their own lineage back to a person in slavery.  This means you are no longer giving reparations for slavery, but for a whole host of treatment and conditions to people who were not, themselves, slaves.  Does everyone up to the present that experienced ANY of these things get reparations, too.  I know some black businessmen who came from humble families that were successful and became multimillionaires.  Do they get reparations because their parents or grandparents did not have the business acumen that they had?

My question to everyone is this.   Should the Irish get reparations?  Or any other group that was hurt by their ancestry in the USA?  Same goes for people who were disenfranchised because of sexual orientation, creed, religion, sex (woman's rights), etc?     I mean why just the "black" ancestry?   How about Native Americans?   How about those coming from southeast Asia or Asian countries?   You know the families thrown into internment camps during WW2?

There were other groups of people throughout or US history that were discriminated against and faced economic hardships because of that discrimination.  The discrimination was VIA....race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation,  sex, etc.    You know the protected classes of the civil rights acts.    do they now get reparations or get reparations in the future?   You know the whole "sexual revolution".... when women were facing discrimination in work places.    Do they get a form of reparations?

Also you do know that "BLACKS" or minorities got the right to vote prior to women.   So you could argue that women have been hurt longer than blacks by "systematic" things.

Then as alluded too...... how do you implement it?   If there are very successful people of color, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.  That made millions to they get reparations too?    Because those successful overcame and throw a monkey wrench into all of the "systematic" bullshit.

If this was 70 years ago..... I would be more apt to say something could be done.   But right now why should a 40 year old who grew up in the 80's/90's get paid.    Someone who is so far removed from "slavery" or systematic lies get reparations.

You know the families thrown into internment camps during WW2?"

YES!!!!  The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 gave survivors of Japanese ancestry who were "thrown into internment camps during WW2" during World War II $20,000 and a formal presidential apology.
You really are a fucking moron.  I'd say you drag down the collective IQ of TER righties but they're all as fucking stupid as you are.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Liberties_Act_of_1988

because he hates stupid righties who embarrass him. And he definitely finds crsm embarrassing. As you know, GaG's half Chinese and cites the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 as the reason half of him should get reparations. I would simply add that the Semi-Sino Sicilian (his other half) doesn't need a dime. He's in the "awl bidness" and Trump's Iran War debacle has made him richer than ever.
Did I mention he thinks crsm is dumber than a bag of hammers?

Honestly I didn't know that about the WW2 survivors.   I learned something new.    But you are talking about 120,000 US Citizens.   Who were directly thrown into camps, made it so they couldn't work and support families.

Now tell me how many "black" people were thrown into internment camps or something like that in the past 100 years.

You do know that the civil rights act of 1964 and 1968 made it illegal for many of the "systematic" practices the demographic wants reparations for.   So they have been illegal for almost 60 years!!!!!     You telling me people in there 40 deserve "reparation"?

You are also ignoring my question about women?   Irish? or other marginalized groups.

So another question..... the 40 acres and a mule.... does that count as reparations?     You do know that some slaves benefited from it.

Also ignoring my question about how do you distribute it?   Who gets the reparations?  etc.     Like I mentioned does a 1%'er (millionaire) get reparations.... even though they were not "held down" by systematic racism?

But keep ignoring all of these issues when talking about reparation.
