Do you believe our government is preparing for a breakdown in society, and would call martial law?  I know there is a quiet rage building across America now, and just speaking from how it feels to me personally.  It feels as if small businesses and the middle will be snuffed out the upcoming years.  Whenever you see me playing on the computer, it means I have NO customers.  I am out here seeing the suffering and struggling.  I get it, they are broke and just looking for their little tax refund which is not coming soon enough for the suffering.  So sad to see what has happened to America, no matter whose fault and blame it is.

P.S.  What does that chart mean that you linked?

when the subject is federal weapons procurement.

Somehow you missed the distinction between trained law enforcement officers having these weapons - which they will use to protect the citizens - and untrained citizens having a weapon so powerful that when they mistake the pizza delivery man for a burglar they will shoot through their front door and kill their next door neighbor as well as the pizza guy.

And no fed employees cannot take these guns home for personal use any more than they can take the DHHS computer.  Finally, you may have missed the commendable LE practie of offering to buy guns from "citizens. This is one way to get those guns off the street.

Unfortunately, the facts just don't lead to any other reasonable conclusion.  Yep, conspiracy thinking, but to avoid the reality is just as foolish.  Let's think about how people in power would have to go about capturing control.

1.  Of course they would need a support base of blind followers.  Now how would you convince folks quietly to accept whatever you say and not challenge you.  Let's start segmenting society by quietly giving them life's necessities all free of charge as long as they cast their support for you.

2.  Let's befriend the news outlets so that your failures rarely see the light of day.  If the news outlets are only reflecting on the positives and defend failures, the public will not know the truth.

3.  Let's crucify any news outlet that dares to criticize.

4.  Insure that only the government has the ability to fight.  Control gun access.  Control information.  Make the population dependent on government and punish those who disagree.

5.  Begin to test your absolute control.  Little pieces until you establish that government can violate law, constitution, etc... with little meaningful challenge.

6.  Limit meaningful education and control the message taught in school.

And there are many more steps.  But a non biased examination by those who are willing to shove politics aside is bound to make a reasonable person stand up and say, WTF.

So, DHS employees don't get to take them home?  Guess that's because their is some internal policy that says that.  Just like it's illegal to buy guns from a gun store and transport/sell them to drug cartels.  I mean that would never happen because it's illegal right?  And if it did, the perps would be arrested and convicted, right?

You certainly place a lot of confidence in what the "law" says as a defense of why bad things couldn't happen from government.  Too bad what the law may say, and what is happening all around us are completely out of sync.

I sincerely wish I believed in your view.  But I just can't get around that one simple truism.... "reality".  And it paints a very different picture.  Unfortunately, the reality is moving so fast in the wrong direction that I fear it's too late for us.  When we finally wake up.... not pretty.

if I still believe in the American Dream.  If small businesses are snuffed out, I think I would like to buy a small tractor and farm the 15 acres that was left to me.  I have a small loan against the property I am paying off that was used for a funeral and living expenses.  But even if I don't pay the bank back, I don't think they can ever make me move.  I just really don't want to participate in the Americans bailing out ourselves anymore, even if that means finding just a few clients that I really enjoy (escort)  But for the record, I haven't been back in 3 years.  And I did hear a fake review is about to post on me here. :(

Go and read the arguments between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists when they drafted the 2nd amendment, then get back to us.

The authors and founders intended for the citizenry to armed with modern weapons of the day, capable of fighting against the strongest standing army of the times, namely the British army and potentially a rogue federal army. There were citizen militiamen of the day that even owned artillery pieces.

If anything, 20th century laws have already put more restrictions on the right to bear arms than was originally intended.

The Constitution didn't mention the Internet either but by your logic it would be OK for the government to abridge free speech of anyone using the Internet under the claim that the Internet is far more powerful than any written press and thereby justifiable.

the acceptable or preferred style of citizenry arms is going to be substantially different than those trying to keep and bear those arms.

Also, if you ask them about the facet of the 2nd Amendment that pertains to a government going "rogue" and becoming overly oppressive to its, most will respond that that could never happen. They have that belief based mostly on the standpoint that THEY would never allow it to happen as they would be the ones called upon to enforce the oppression. They tell themselves that they would never follow such illegal orders or that can't imagine things ever getting to that point.

The two distinct points above present a bizarre dichotomy.

On another note, if they ever do find themselves going "door to door", their task will be far easier if they have a list of addresses that are registered as owners of arms.

Most LE and military personal support the right to keep and bear arms. Ask a few of your friends in LE or the military if they want to go door to door to round them up. Thats the only aproach that might work and with how easy it is to hide a firearm I don't even believe that would work.

is that when someone counters a point you've made with another point then you ignore the response and simply start name calling?

Why not proceed directly to the name calling in order to save time and bandwidth? Why do you post here in the first place?

Yes, probably true but if you ask them if they support the populace armed with automatic AR-15's you may get quite a different answer than if you ask them about a semi-auto handgun.

I have close to 20 military and ex military in my close group of friends and family, most of them own more then 5 guns each, hunt,  target shoot and trap shoot. Half of them own ar s or a similar gun. All of them sevred in the past 15 urs and were in combat in the middle east. Most of them tend to agree that they earned the right and fought for those rights.

I guess I am more scared of a handgun to tell the truth, you can tell the guy carrying an ar15 from a half mile away. Sure they are dangerous and all but unless its a mass shooting I believe a handgun is 10 times more dangerous. AR 15's have only been involved in about 160 murders in the past 8 years if I have my statstics right. Most of your bolt action hunting rifles are more dangerous to LE and Military wearing body armour (ceramic plates), ar's won't penetrate it, a 300 mag typically will.
The truth is if someone REALLY wants to kill it is almost impossible to stop them. Car were used to kill more people interntionally last year then rifles of any kind in the US. I just think that any weapons ban today is chasing your tail, the DOJ announced that the 1994 ban had absolutely no effect on crime. Why is a ban now going to be different. Its terrible when it happens but can it really be stopped? Allowing teachers to conceal and carry if they are comfortable with it and trained to do so is probably the best and most likely to prevent or slow a shooting like this in the imediate future. With 7+ million assult weapons and 70+million 20+ rds clips in the US today how do you ever think you'll track them down? If they do start a gun registryI'm not sure I'd register mine...  many more will agree with me.
How come Adam Lanza's affluent wealthy parents didn't provide the mental health help he needed? I cant believe if they were willing to pay for it they couldn't have gotten him help. Everyone blames the lack of government funding for mental hospitals but where is the personal responsibility of his family? I cant believe he never made a threat, or talked about doing something before he shot 26 people.
If he had walked through the school throwing molotov cocktails into classrooms the effect WOULD have been worse, how could you prevent it?
If McVey would have been willing to die in OKC and driven the van into the building instead of detonating it 45 yrds away in the street the death toll would have tripled, that was a bomb made with items you can buy now without restrictions. What can be done to preventing these acts without giving up all of our freedoms?
