Andrew Bates, former White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary in former President Joe Biden's administration, called out one of President Donald Trump's top advisors for saying that those sentenced for storming the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, did not receive "due process."

 
"The most corrupt administration in U.S. history is getting even more desperate," Bates wrote on the social platform X on Monday in response to a post by White House advisor Stephen Miller saying that the system was rigged against Jan 6. rioters.

 
"Every January 6th criminal got due process. Here's Trump-appointed Judge Trevor McFadden blasting the antisemitism of a Nazi sympathizer - and current @EagleEdMartin pal - who stormed the Capitol," Bates added, sharing a screenshot of a court statement.

 
The statement was from Judge Trevor McFadden, who had sentenced a Nazi sympathizer to four years in prison in 2022 for storming the Capitol.

 
"They normalize violent, racist and antisemitic behavior; and they apparently helped you justify your conduct on January 6th. And I can’t help noting that antisemitic incidents have been rising in the last few years. Jewish people have faced millennia of discrimination, oppression and violence," the statement accompanying the 2022 order read.

 
"Thankfully, this country has been a safe haven for them and they have contributed in many ways to make our country more safe and prosperous. Statements and actions like yours make them less safe and less confident as the equal members of our society," it added.

 
Miller, who also serves as the White House deputy chief of staff for policy, had claimed in his post that the "entire system" was rigged against those who were arrested for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6. 2021.

"If you were an American falsely accused of wrongdoing on January 6th it wasn’t merely difficult to get 'due process,' it was impossible. The entire system was rigged against you. All of it. Those persecuted Americans could only dream of the 'due process' afforded illegal aliens," he wrote in his post.

 
Historian Josh Marshall, reacting to Miller's post, wrote, "Yep, even with Trump's farm-stocked Supreme Court somehow the Jan 6th insurrectionists couldn't get due process. Go figure."

 
On the first day of his term in January, President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting a "full, complete and unconditional pardon" to the vast majority of Jan. 6 defendants.
